Dr. Trang added that with appropriate treatment, the disease will regress in a few weeks or less, however, depending on the severity, symptoms sometimes appear for the next few months. Miller Fisher syndrome is usually benign and has a better prognosis for recovery than Guillain Barre. Most patients recover completely, with only a few cases of muscle weakness over the next few years.
