Contestant Nguyen Nhut Lam left a strong impression on the audience after appearing in the final round of the Road to Olympia 2025 competition. The male contestant was nicknamed "the prince of the West".
The 25th annual finale of "Road to Olympia" has just ended, leaving many deep emotions for the audience who love the show. The four "climbers" participating in the decisive match include: Le Quang Duy Khoa (Hue National High School for the Gifted), Nguyen Nhat Lam (Cai Be High School), Doan Thanh Tung (Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted) and Tran Bui Bao Khanh (Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted).
Throughout the four rounds, the audience could hardly take their eyes off the screen as the contestants continuously compared each score. From the Start to the Finish , each person showed their own courage, knowledge and style. If Quang Duy Khoa stood out with his calm demeanor, Bao Khanh broke through in the acceleration round, then the name that left the most impression was Nguyen Nhut Lam - a Western boy with a gentle smile and spreading positive energy.
Although he did not win the prestigious laurel wreath, Nhut Lam is still a "bright star" in the hearts of viewers thanks to his natural, honest competition style and the spirit of "work hard, play hard". From the first rounds, he impressed viewers with his witty answers, quick reactions and constant smile. Many observant viewers also discovered that Lam has an adorable habit: whenever he is nervous, he stands up and gently shakes his body back and forth. When asked about this, Lam shyly shared: "It's hard for me to stand still. Doing this helps me calm down, and catch my breath before answering."
It is this innocence that makes the audience not only love him but also call him by a cute nickname: "Prince of the Fruit Kingdom." Nhut Lam revealed that he really likes this name because he feels everyone's love, even though he still feels a bit regretful for not bringing home the laurel wreath. And when asked about his favorite food, Lam's answer made everyone laugh: "I'm called the Prince of the Fruit Kingdom, but my favorite dish is still my mother's cooking."
Nhut Lamâs most impressive moment in the final was when he boldly chose all three 30-point questions in the Finish Line round. In particular, the English question â compiled by two editors from Vietnam Today channel â made the whole studio hold its breath. The question required the contestant to listen and translate the introduction of the first Autumn Fair in 2025 with a series of detailed information about time, scale, location and topic.
Even bilingual MC Khanh Vy admitted: "This is a difficult question, with many facts that can easily confuse contestants." However, Nhut Lam made the whole studio "explode" when he answered fluently, translating every detail and every number accurately - without a single mistake. That perfect answer brought Lam 60 valuable points, becoming one of the most impressive performances in Olympia history.
Although he did not reach the championship, Nguyen Nhut Lam still created a series of special "milestones" such as the only contestant not from a specialized school in the final round, the first person to bring Cai Be High School - a school that has never had Olympia television - to the final round, the winner of the first prize with the highest score (290 points) of the year and the one who won thanks to the extra question, showing the spirit of not giving up until the last second.
