Recently, this online giant has officially "issued a wanted warrant" for the 3rd season of the One Piece Live-Action series. Officially named "The Battle of Alabasta", this film is set to be released in 2027.
If season 1 is a colorful debut of friendship, season 2 is a dramatic stepping stone through small islands, season 3 with Arc Alabasta is a real "rough sea". This is the greatest landmark chapter in the early stages of the original One Piece.
No longer just encounters between pirate gangs, The Battle of Alabasta immerses audiences in a complex political matrix, a fierce civil war pulled by the underground criminal organization Baroque Works. The Straw Hats now face a kingdom that is withering from dust and betrayal. Adapting a war with an army of millions of people and eye-catching battles between Logia-type Devil Fruit abilities on the screen is a huge challenge in terms of technique and staging. However, that is also the reason why season 3 has become the most anticipated film ever.
The heat of season 3 was immediately pushed to the peak when the identities of the new faces joining the One Piece family were revealed. Netflix has shown absolute sensitivity and respect for the original in the scouting stage:
Xolo Maridueña (as Portgas D. Ace): This is probably the most shocking piece of information. The star of Cobra Kai and Blue Beetle is considered the perfect choice for the role of "Brother of the Nation" Ace. With his solid appearance, sunny smile, and skillful action acting ability, Xolo is expected to recreate a temperamental and warm Ace who possesses the fiery power of the Mera Mera no Mi.
Cole Escola (as Bon Clay/Mr. 2): The choice of Cole Escola for the role of Bon Clay – one of the most beloved and psychologically complex characters – was a bold move. Cole's diverse transformations and unique performance style are believed to fully reveal the loyalty, madness but meaning of the "swan" of the Okama region.
Daisy Head (as Miss Doublefinger): Talented actress Daisy Head will bring sharpness and coolness to one of Baroque Works' most dangerous assassins. This will be a tough opponent to create a dramatic confrontation with Nami.
The success or failure of an adapted series lies in the hands of those in charge. In season 3, Ian Stokes and Joe Tracz will continue to serve as co-showrunners, writers, and executive producers. These are the names that have guaranteed the image quality and film rhythm of the previous two seasons.
With a deep understanding of the world of Saint Oda, combined with modern cinematic thinking, this team is aiming to elevate One Piece Live-Action not just as a manga adaptation, but as a world-class action epic series. They are faced with a dilemma: How to recreate the grandeur of the desert, the cruelty of drought and especially the great battle in the capital city of Alubarna while still retaining the atomic "soul" of the comics.
Looking back on the journey from 2023, One Piece Live-Action has broken the "curse" of Netflix's anime adaptation. Season 2, which just aired in March 2026, took viewers on a long journey from Loguetown to Drum Island, introducing important characters such as Dr. Chopper and Princess Vivi.
Season 2 did a great job of playing the role of a "prequel", tightening the knots about the Baroque Works organization and sowing fear about the name Crocodile. Therefore, when entering season 3, the audience is ready for an emotional explosion. Alabasta isn't just a fight, it's a test of teamwork, where Luffy truly asserts himself against a Shichibukai.
