Miss Global "went into the water" because of Nhu Van, Vietnamese fans have not spared even though they made history

The 2025 season of Miss Global ended with the victory belonging to the representative of Vietnam - Nguyen Dinh Nhu Van. However, the contest was still "boycotted" by Vietnamese audiences because it used a map with a "cow's tongue line".

On the evening of March 9, the final round of the Miss Global 2025 contest (Miss Global) officially took place in Thailand, with the competition of more than 60 beauties from countries and territories around the world. The representative of Vietnam to participate in this contest is Nguyen Dinh Nhu Van.

In the finale, after the opening, the contestants took turns to go through contests such as swimsuit costumes, evening dresses, etc. to select the Top 12 to enter the presentation round. In this round, Nhu Van chose to win the keyword "Amazing Thailand".

She shared: "Amazing Thailand is not only a slogan about the tourism industry, but also about Thai life - the places, the food, the natural landscapes and the most special thing is the people. Thais greeted us with a big smile and an open heart. I love you, Thailand."

Thanks to the on-point, confident and fluent presentation, the Vietnamese representative was named in the Top 5 along with representatives of the United States, Jamaica, the Philippines and Puerto Rico to compete in behavior. After that, she continued to enter the Top 3 with beauties from Jamaica and Puerto Rico in the second behavior contest.

This round, all 3 answered the same question: "The slogan of Miss Global is empowerment, embrace and express. Please share what experiences and learnings you have when becoming a part of Miss Global?"

Nhu Van expressed: "During the two weeks of participating in the competition, I learned how to empower myself, step out of my comfort zone and become the person I want to be. The second thing is to promote the country of Vietnam, to sho.w people our cultural diversity as well as our love. The third thing is to embrace the inner beauty, the beauty that we understand. Beauty may fade, but love and heritage are eternal."

In the end, Nhu Van excellently won the Miss Global 2025 crown. The title of 1st runner-up was awarded to the representative of Jamaica. The beauty from Puerto Rico won the title of 2nd runner-up. The 3rd and 4th runners-up titles belonged to beauties from the US and the Philippines, respectively.

Previously, many prestigious beauty websites such as Missosology and Sash Factor predicted that Nhu Van would be crowned Miss Global 2025 and that came true. This is the first time that Vietnamese representatives have been crowned at this contest. The highest achievement is the 4th runner-up set by the beauty Doan Thu Thuy in the 2023 season.

Besides the joy that Nhu Van made history, many Vietnamese audiences spoke up to praise Miss Global. The reason comes from a sensitive detail in the video introducing the contestants. Specifically, in a few short seconds, the screen shows a map of Southeast Asia, but there are abnormal broken lines in the South China Sea. It is said to be an illegal "ox-tongue line".

This immediately made many international audiences, especially Vietnamese, frustrated. Some people also called for a boycott of the contest and asked the organizers to give an explanation. Just a few minutes later, Miss Global apologized through the fanpage.

"We sincerely apologize for any offensive behavior shared by the graphic image during the finale. We have never intended to falsify or distort Vietnam's territorial sovereignty or sensitive issues surrounding Vietnam's border and territorial issues. In the coming time, we will ensure that the content presented to the public will be carefully reviewed, to avoid unwanted misunderstandings," said a representative of the organizers.

However, this apology was not enough to calm the wave of anger of Vietnamese fans. Many opinions criticize the lack of professionalism of an international contest like Miss Global, which allows serious mistakes related to political issues.
