Drink every night until 2-3 am

Comedian Bao Chung said that his career suddenly rose like a kite when he collaborated with Kim Loi Music Center, Rang Dong.

"At that time in Saigon, comedy was very popular with the names Bao Quoc, Duy Phuong. However, I was more fortunate to be the first to make music videos. In 1993, me and artists Tai Linh, Duy Phuong, Hong Van were invited to make the music video "Dust Rain". Its attraction is extremely terrible.

My shows are not limited to Saigon but spread across the country. Northern provinces such as Thanh Hoa, Vinh, Hai Phong... are huge fans. There was a year when I went to the North to perform for up to 6 months, everywhere I was surrounded by the audience. So much so that the hotel refused to let me rent anymore because the audience came too much, affecting their business situation," said comedian Bao Chung.

According to the share of comedian Bao Chung, if in Saigon, his salary was 500,000 VND, then to the North, this price was increased to 3 million VND.

He said: "3 million dong at that time was terrible. Every day I ate comfortably but only spent 50,000 dong. In Saigon, I ran 7-9 shows every night. Holidays doubled. It worked out every night. Compared to now, it was about 70-80 million VND. Although not as much as now, the money was very valuable at that time. I remember a year of running the show, I bought a house in Saigon."

Once you have a brand, you can make money without doing anything. It's a big name business. After "Dust Rain", Bao Chung began to be noticed by the business world.

A rather special "deal" that he accepted, that is, just hanging his picture and the words "flowing goat", he was entitled to 10% revenue every month. "But the easier it is to make money, the more expensive it is to pay," comedian Bao Chung sums up after this cooperation.

10% of the revenue of a large restaurant, packed with customers every night is a "bargain". In return, he had to go there every night to have a beer with the fans.

"For 6 months, I couldn't go to sing a single day because I couldn't stop. When the show was so loud, I ran away to perform, but the customers at the restaurant "protested." Some pictures of me at the restaurant, they Cut out and pour beer in, shouting: "If Bao Chung doesn't come tomorrow, don't go to the shop anymore".

The situation forced me to choose between the two. I am so passionate about art, the audience also loves me, and I can live well with my profession, why not choose? Fortunately, Rang Dong Center always squeezes me out: I go to the concert at night, shoot and record, so I don't have time to drink anymore," said comedian Bao Chung.

Default due to real estate investment

"Cai" can drink, comedian Bao Chung is entangled in another "addiction" that is sports cars and real estate. At one point, he owned up to 38 cars of all types and designs. There is one worth several dozen gold trees. The "source of nutrition" for this luxury hobby is largely from the real estate business.

He said: "At first, I only bought 1-2 houses to keep there, when the price went up, I sold it to make a profit, but did not advocate trading at all. But later, my wife started the business, so I made a big deal. Maybe my ancestors gave me a career in acting, I just have to worry about doing it well, then the happiness will come. Artists can only do one thing well, there are few people who are good at both. Until I myself fell into a failed situation. If I fail, I can experience it."

Having a life of "spending money like water", he fell into a debt default that made him depressed and broke. At that moment, he received an invitation from overseas comedian Van Son to come to America to collaborate.

At first, Bao Chung didn't want to go, but thinking about the years of being engrossed in running the show, his family was disadvantaged because he rarely had a full meal, so he agreed to go there, both to work again and to keep his family. family spend more time together.

Although he did not agree to talk about his family, comedian Bao Chung still revealed a bit about his life, because it was related to his decision to leave Vietnam at that time.

Comedian Bao Chung confided: "In 2000, I moved to the US to settle down, an important part of that decision was for my wife and children. The time when I emerged in the comedy village, I rarely had a meal with my family. For a year, I was only at home for a few days, many days running the show, passing the house clearly but still couldn't enter the house.

From 1993-2000, I slept only 4 hours a day. Famous for having a lot of money to spend, having a car and a villa, but rarely sleeping at home, sleeping in the scenery. When at the studio, when taking advantage of the time to drive on the road. In the morning, I was "picked up" to get into the car to run the show continuously. Even if you have a car, you can't run it, you won't be able to make it in time, so you have to ride a motorbike. Eat also in the car in time for the show.

Many times, just biting a piece of cake, before it passed through the throat, the gourd called to the stage. It was so extreme, but at that time, I was eager to make money, so I didn't feel miserable. The story that I defaulted, said it was bad luck, but it was also lucky. Thanks to it, I just left to start over and change my life like now. After all, having a complete family is the greatest achievement of each person. Fame and money will eventually run out."

Called default, but at that time, Bao Chung still had a few villas. He sold it to make capital, moved to the US to live, only kept 2 apartments for rent and took a place to go back to Vietnam.
