Actress Kim Phuong was born into a Khmer family in Soc Trang. She has been fascinated with movies since she was only 20 years old, so far Kim Phuong has had about 20 large and small roles. She was interrupted for nearly 10 years to return to Vietnamese cinema.

During that 10-year period, Kim Phuong spent 3 years undergoing cancer treatment, 2 years waiting for the antibiotic in her body to dissipate to embrace motherhood. Having her first child when she was 34 years old, Kim Phuong burst into happiness, so she decided to wait another 4 years for her son to be strong before returning to movies.

Referring to Kim Phuong, the audience will not be able to forget the "boss" Phuong De of the Saigon Rangers, Lien Hoa of the stormy sea, Tu of Swapping fate and his assistant Tu - Queen Bee - in the latest movie: Underground storm.

The image of "tycoon" Phuong De in Saigon Rangers leaves a bold mark of a rolling Kim Phuong, devoted to the role. She had to cut her hair short, tighten her breasts and walk around for months during filming.

Originally a gentle, simple girl, but because of the role of Phuong De, Kim Phuong is not afraid to roll, practice martial arts, fight, and speak unruly. The actress once made many people unable to recognize her with both her appearance and unruly, extravagant, dynamic in charisma.

Once, Kim Phuong and the actors playing Phuong De's juniors appeared in front of a mall to practice martial arts, preparing for the film's scenes. The actress gave such a realistic fistfight that her co-stars got 1 painful spanking, and those who witnessed the rehearsal couldn't help but be apprehensive about the "boss".

Not only that, Kim Phuong also had to perform many scenes of hugging, kissing, caressing, and love with female co-stars. Kim Phuong once revealed that she herself had to shudder when watching the same-sex scenes with 3 "lovers" in the film.

Coming to the movie Underground Storm, Kim Phuong once again reminded of the image of the "boss" Phuong De when appearing in short, masculine hair. However, no longer an outspoken female gypsy, Kim Phuong's role this time is completely different.

She plays the role of the tycoon's assistant - 1 young lawyer but sinister minded, exiled strategist who knows how to hide, can arrange work for the tycoon. It is worth mentioning that Tu is loyal, ready to harm his lover for the boss.

Looking back to see, as long as Kim Phuong appears, any role becomes impressive, lifelike. In order to make a strong impression on the audience, it is undeniable that Kim Phuong sacrificed a lot.

Sharing about her latest role in Underground Storm, Kim Phuong revealed in the program Narrative:

"My role in Underground Storm is Tu, a young lawyer who returned from abroad. Tu is considered the tycoon's right-hand man, who draws up strategies, plots for the boss to carry out his criminal missions.

Tu is so loyal that he is willing to harm his same-sex lover to protect his secrets. After harming a same-sex lover, Tu fell in love with one of her assistants to make things go more smoothly."

In an interview with Dan Viet, Kim Phuong said: "During filming I was no longer me but Tu. On the script, I discussed with the director and producer to edit and develop the character of Tu to be new, more multidimensional.

To conquer the audience, to have such a prickly, scheming Tu character? A series of questions and problems I posed to Tu and I solved them to result in Tu being so "sick."

Kim Phuong said that she always wants her characters to be new, unique and not repeat previous roles. Therefore, in order to overcome the "shadow" of the previous character Phuong De, Kim Phuong asked the director to edit the script, so that Tu assistant - Queen Bee - of Underground Storm has a love scene with both men and women:

"Tu also has many similarities to Phoenix. At first, the director wanted Tu to resemble Phuong De, having same-sex love. But I suggested to the director that the next film I have to "level up", why only love 1 sex, love both sexes! The director found it interesting and decided to go in that direction."

The actress revealed that she is willing to do anything, as long as the audience is happy and enjoyable and the directors are not surprised with Kim Phuong's rolling:

"The directors know that Kim Phuong is always dedicated to the role, never afraid of the pole. Even the fight scenes, if I had to go back, I was ready to shoot from morning to night.

With 1 scene of the Queen Bee playing the gourd, although I did not know how to play the gourd, I was willing to learn to make the character more interesting and interesting. I only had 3 days to learn to play the sheet music in that segment.

Honestly, learning to absorb, to play well in 3 days is impossible. So I decided to learn to be able to portray the look, the charisma, each hand shake when the character plays the gourd.

I practice shaking my hands when I play to the point where my hands bleed. At night, my hands were numb, and I didn't know why, until later I found out it was because I practiced too much. Thankfully these scenes on film look... Okay!

Then like the boxing scene, everyone watching thought I had been playing for a long time. But in fact, I've only been playing this sport for 1 1/2 years, since I started filming Underground Storm. I do boxing, I do Muay Thai just to make every scene look as realistic as possible."

Rolling, dedicating herself to each character like that, but what Kim Phuong aims for is not the aura of the role or to express herself but because: "Just hope that after filming, I can give the audience the most enjoyment, I am ready to do anything!"

"According to the original script, the character of Assistant Tu had a skinhead shape and I also had to shave my head. I still have those images to this day. But because this is a TV series, with children and older people watching, it needs to be moderated, cannot be "too heavy". So in the end, the director decided that Tu would have short hair.

Although especially successful with "unique, strange", gypsy, and sinister roles, Kim Phuong said that she herself really does not like these types of roles:

"People say I'm lucky because I've always been given roles that are unique, strange, and have strong personalities. But honestly, I don't like that myself! I like to have a role like Kim Phuong in real life so that the audience can see that I am also very gentle, cake duckweed."
