Many years ago, Miss Kim Hong was at the peak of her career, as chairwoman of the board of directors of an advertising and event organization company, when she suddenly put it on hold to go to the US.

Kim Hong is the first Vietnamese beauty to compete in the Mrs World pageant, winning the title of Most Popular Mrs World in India in 2005. She was also awarded the title of First Mrs World in 2013. This title is given to beauty queens who have made outstanding contributions to promoting culture and charity. Kim Hong is also the one who successfully organized the Miss Universe pageant in Vietnam in 2008 (in Nha Trang) and Miss World 2009 (in Vung Tau).

In addition, few people know that before becoming the First Mrs. World, Kim Hong made her mark as a music teacher at Phan Boi Chau Secondary School, District 12, Ho Chi Minh City. During that time, she not only imparted knowledge but also instilled a passion for music in many students. Music has sown the seeds of love for art in her from the very beginning.

Although pursuing a business career and becoming a famous entrepreneur, music is still a companion to Miss Kim Hong.

When participating in the 2005 Mrs. World pageant in India, in addition to completing the traditional costume, swimsuit, evening gown, and many other talent competitions, Kim Hong played a classical guitar solo and performed many English songs, leaving an impression on the audience.

In addition, she also wore a four-panel ao dai, danced and sang the songs "Drum Rice" and "My Homeland Vietnam". Thanks to that, she conquered the judges and other representative contestants. As a result, Kim Hong was honored with the title "Most Popular Mrs. World".

Retreat causes regret

At the peak of her career, the beauty queen suddenly put everything aside to move to the US. During this time, she ran a business, took care of her son, and also took on the role of Vice President of Mrs World.

According to the beauty queen born in 1968, in recent years she has received many invitations to be a judge and participate in organizing competitions, but she found it difficult to handle the assigned responsibilities, so she refused. "I am too busy, it is difficult to follow the schedule of a competition from beginning to end, I am afraid that if I am absent or neglect my responsibilities from time to time, I will lose my reputation and affect the overall program, so I do not dare to accept," Kim Hong said. Therefore, she has no intention of returning to the role of beauty pageant organizer as before.

During her career, Kim Hong's most memorable memory was working with Mr. Donald Trump 17 years ago. At that time, she went to the US to campaign for Miss Universe to be held in Vietnam. At that time, Mr. Donald Trump was the owner of this contest. "He also revealed that he had learned about Vietnam and was impressed by the friendliness and hospitality of the Vietnamese people," Miss Kim Hong recalled.

Living in seclusion due to illness

Recently, the beauty said that recently she has been living a reclusive, quiet life, with little contact with friends and relatives because she is having health problems, suffering from many illnesses at the same time, and has been asked by her doctor to limit her use of phones and computers.

Miss Kim Hong said that when she first came to the US, she lived in Chicago. Due to the unsuitable weather and climate, the beauty queen's health declined. In 2023, Kim Hong unfortunately fell at home, resulting in a head injury and was diagnosed with a cerebral embolism that required long-term treatment. After that, the beauty also suffered from depression and went through difficult days in a foreign land.

Kim Hong said that thanks to her strong personality, she tried her best to overcome her illness and regain balance and joy in life.

Currently, the beauty queen has moved to California to live with her sister Bich Lien. According to the beauty, thanks to the wholehearted love and care of her relatives, she can focus on treating her illness.

Since her health crisis, she has changed her lifestyle, becoming more leisurely, and enjoying simple pleasures such as watching the sunrise, walking in the park, playing the guitar, singing, composing music, writing poetry, listening to soft instrumental music, or watching some good movies. Kim Hong said that these activities help her reduce stress, like a tonic that is very helpful in the process of curing depression.

She believes that if medicine can relieve physical pain, then music is an invisible nutrient that helps her mind gently escape the vortex of sadness and stress.

Kim Hong added that when she sits at the piano or listens to her favorite lyrical songs, she feels a quiet but profound comfort. The gentle melodies are like the whispers of her own soul, helping her let go of all the pressure, anxiety, and physical and mental pain.

"Every time I sing, I feel like I can release the burden in my heart, I feel like I can be myself, weak but also strong," Kim Hong confided.

Miss Kim Hong also chooses to ignore the unhappy and unlucky things in life, not letting them become a mental burden.
