Khanh Linh: The "painted eyelashes" of Vietnamese music return and regret of early elimination for Madame Duck

Coming from a family imbued with art and culture, Khanh Linh is familiar with the 9x generation. Recently, the return of the "artist" at The Masked Singer is both a joy and a regret of the audience.

Boldly embarking on new music lines, Khanh Linh, the singer favorably nicknamed "painted my" is gradually transforming herself from the soft pop ballad music realm to more modern and powerful music.

His full name is Pham Khanh Linh, born on August 29, 1983 in Hanoi. Her father is an elite gourd artist Pham Ngoc Huong and her mother is an elite singer and artist Vu Dau, her brother is musician Ngoc Chau.

At the age of 4, Linh took piano lessons and showed special musical talent when he taught himself music and lyrics through karaoke tapes and then recorded his own voice through cassette tapes.

When Khanh Linh was in grade 9, after recording the song "Co Tam today" composed by her brother, musician Ngoc Chau, for the movie "The Story of the Carpenter", Ngoc Chau found Linh's voice rustic, innocent, suitable for the nature of the film, so she let Khanh Linh sing this song.

After the success of "Co Tam today", Khanh Linh started to dream of singing and becoming a professional singer.

In grade 11, Linh entered the Conservatory in the difficult situation of her family, it seemed that everything had been put to an end, approaching the exam day and fear kept hanging in front of Linh's parents.

Sympathizing with the plight of Khanh Linh's family, artist Quang Tho accepted her in a hurry, even though he had previously had a principle not to accept female students. As a result, Khanh Linh got a high score in that exam.

But only when participating in Sao Mai 2003 contest and winning the third prize and the "Most Popular Singer" award, Khanh Linh became truly known to the music-loving public.

After the competition, with a clear, high voice and especially extremely emotional, Linh found her own path with lyrical works slightly inclined to semi-classical.

Her debut studio album Painted Lashes Sing in the Rain in 2014 brought her the success of awards as well as the reception of the audience with the songs "Painted Lashes Sing in the Rain", "April Return"; especially "Miss Plate today" was also included by her. In the same year, she participated in musician Ngoc Dai's project Eclipse with Tung Duong.

In 2005, Khanh Linh's song Noon Dream, which Khanh Linh performed in the Vietnamese Song program, received positive reviews from the public.

Later, Khanh Linh got married at the end of the year, and her husband was an employee of a shipping company.

In 2006, she released her second album titled "Blue Morning" right after the birth of her first son, Anh Khoa. The album is a collaboration of Khanh Linh with famous musicians such as Ngoc Chau, Huy Tuan, Do Bao, Hong Kien

In 2007, after appearing in Christmas Son's album Christmas Son (with 2 songs Noon Dream and Late Night Street), in November, Khanh Linh released his 3rd album titled After the Rain. This is an album edited by musician Le Minh Son, in addition to compositions by musicians Duong Thu, Nguyen Vinh Tien ...

In 2017, after 10 years, she returned with her fourth album titled Sir, and marked a transformation when she no longer performed tender pop songs but instead of a ghostly, rebellious style.

In addition, Khanh Linh is known for her famous soundtrack songs such as: Miss Plate Today (The Story of the Carpenter), Blue Morning (film of the same name), Love Whirlpool (film of the same name), When love begins (film A lifetime of resentment - part 1), Fragile happiness (film Living with mother-in-law), ...

At work, the singer has a reputation for being quite careful when choosing shows, and makes it a rule to only accept when given 4 days' notice. It is for this reason that many people say Spiritual.

Despite possessing a high, clear and warm voice, Linh always wonders about it. She herself commented that sometimes she always finds her voice too smoky, too fragile, wants to be "heavier" but does not know how else to do it, so she just chooses another way to sing to suit her voice.

Many people think that singers with deep voices should sing ballads and tragedy, while those with clear high voices like Linh should choose cheerful and pulsating songs, but Linh broke that notion. She still sings about sadness but sings with an optimistic, fresh spirit and always believes in tomorrow.

Returning to The Mask Singer season 2, Khanh Linh felt bittersweet when watching the moment of his appearance on television: "Happy because so many people can't guess me, sad because I want to sing anymore but time is gone."

When the program crew asked for an invitation, Khanh Linh accepted it immediately because he always wanted to sing new songs instead of songs associated with his name over the years.

The singer watched the first season and appreciated that the show celebrates music, emphasizes artistic elements, and gives listeners impressive performances.

In particular, Khanh Linh likes to hide in mascot to freely create, conquer the audience from the beginning and freely reveal the hidden personalities deep inside. She chose the image of Madame Duck because she was quite similar to her: round, waddling gait, both mischievous and contemplative.
