"Hai Muoi" is a project that is receiving a lot of attention from the audience because of Quyen Linh's return after 20 years of stopping acting. Besides the male MC, the female lead role is played by young actress Huynh Bao Ngoc.
Huynh Bao Ngoc was born in 2000, from Can Tho, graduated from the acting department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Theater and Cinema in 2023. She plays the role of Mr. Hai's daughter (played by Quyen Linh). Therefore, she is called "Quyen Linh's screen daughter" by the audience. Not a familiar name, Huynh Bao Ngoc was "chosen" by director - Meritorious Artist Vu Thanh Vinh because of her rustic, simple and gentle features. After 5 rounds of casting, Bao Ngoc received a nod from the director.
"In the first casting round, I thought I was quite lucky to have a rustic, honest appearance, expressing the spirit that the director wanted in the character. In the next rounds, to grasp this great opportunity, I tried to read and carefully analyze the director's acting requirements. I always believe that I must try my best in everything so that no matter what the result is, I will have no regrets. And when I received the news that I was chosen for the main role in the movie Hai Muoi, I shouted with joy" - Huynh Bao Ngoc shared about the opportunity to take on the role of Muoi.
For the first time entering the film industry and playing the daughter of Quyen Linh's character, Bao Ngoc was very happy. She confided that she herself did not have a father, but thanks to the film, she felt how sacred a father's love was. Through the process of contact, she gradually felt love and called Quyen Linh "dad".
Talking about his "screen daughter", Quyen Linh praised Bao Ngoc's genuine acting and her full immersion in the role. Sometimes he even felt that Bao Ngoc was his daughter in real life. Trying her hand at the lead role for the first time alongside a cast of veteran actors, Huynh Bao Ngoc is expected to become the new muse of Vietnamese cinema in the near future.
With enthusiasm and a desire to learn, Bao Ngoc successfully completed her first role, despite facing many challenges in building a complex character's psychology, along with filming scenes in harsh weather. It can be seen that this is a "bright gem" and Bao Ngoc will likely become a promising face for Vietnamese cinema after Hai Muoi.
Huynh Bao Ngoc is known as an MC, photo model and TV actress. The young actress often takes sexy photos, showing off her small waist and long legs. Thanks to her outstanding height, pretty face with dimples, she was invited to act in many MVs during her university years such as: "Love Mood" (Khoa - Lang LD), "Riu go" (TRI, Freaky, Beon), "Phai phai" (Nguyen Khoa - NVM). She also participated in the TV series "Dad, get married, dad", "Mom's dream".
Different from her rustic appearance on screen, in real life, Bao Ngoc "balances" everything from a poetic style to a liberal, daring style. She prefers healthy outfits with tight-fitting bodies that show off her perfect figure. Quyen Linh's "daughter" has also borrowed crop tops many times to show off her beautiful wasp waist.
In contrast to her long black hair when playing Muoi, Bao Ngoc once attracted attention when she dyed her hair colorfully, looking very individual and dynamic. The new movie star is quite secretive about her personal life, only sharing positive posts on social networks.
She is passionate about sports and is good at volleyball, swimming, and badminton. When she was in school, she won two gold medals in volleyball when participating in school-level tournaments. In real life, the actress has a dynamic and youthful dressing style.
Huynh Bao Ngoc said many people advised her to join beauty contests but she loves acting and hopes to live a different life when transforming into a character on screen. The 24-year-old actress is also taking a directing course from Trinh Dinh Le Minh.
The film Hai Muoi is set mainly in Thieng Lieng island hamlet, Thanh An commune, Can Gio district with many impressive scenes in the mangrove forest, Lam Vien ferry, Tang Bong tower with a height of more than 28m,... In particular, the film focuses on the salt-making village, a source of livelihood for many generations of families in this remote island hamlet. Through the film Hai Muoi, for the first time the salt-making profession of Thieng Lieng island salt workers has been "cinematized" and brought to the big screen. Contributing to the preservation of traditional cultural values and further, promoting Vietnamese tourism, specifically community tourism in Thieng Lieng island hamlet.
Director Vu Thanh Vinh has been very skillful in exploiting the natural beauty and traditional cultural materials in Hai Muoi. In addition to recreating the ups and downs of the salt industry, the film also incorporates Don ca tai tu - an art form recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2013. To get a comprehensive picture of the character's life, director Vu Thanh Vinh invested heavily in the stage of setting up the scene.
The "real life" element is emphasized in each scene, so many sets had to be newly built and not available. The crew had to go to Thieng Lieng island 2 months in advance to prepare, from building a house for the main character to preparing about 200kg of pineapple fish for the scenes. Especially in the scenes using salt, it was calculated in tons, because salt when exposed to water cannot be reused, so the production costs continuously increased and were difficult to control.
According to the characteristics of the salt industry in Thieng Lieng, salt farmers only make salt in 6 months of the dry season, from the monsoon season around the 10th lunar month to April of the following year. The biggest challenge for the crew was the race against time, ensuring that the filming scene had to be done at the right time when the salt fields were at their most beautiful. More than 150 personnel and tons of machinery and equipment were transported back and forth between Ho Chi Minh City and Thieng Lieng hamlet, Can Gio, which was extremely difficult. Fortunately, with the full support of the authorities at all levels and local people, the filming scenes went smoothly.
Hai Muoi is a family drama film, with the participation of about 40 actors, including: People's Artist Hong Van, People's Artist Viet Anh, Meritorious Artist Cong Ninh, artist Quyen Linh, actors Minh Luan, Tran Kim Hai, Huynh Bao Ngoc, Tu Tri, Nam Cha,...
