Hong Dang and Ho Hoai Anh are accused of rape in Spain and can be sentenced to 6-12 years in prison

Before rumors on social networks, Vietnam Television has also decided to suspend the broadcast of movies or programs with images of actor Hong Dang and musician Ho Hoai Anh.

On the morning of July 1, social media exploded with information about 2 Vietnamese artists being arrested abroad for rape. Specifically, according to the Spanish newspaper Majorca Daily Bulletin, the 17-year-old girl told police about the sexual assault that took place at a hotel in Andratx, southwest of the island of Majorca, Spain on last weekend after she met and chatted with two men at a nearby restaurant.

According to The Sun, information from the local newspaper Ultima Hora said that the attackers were "a famous Vietnamese actor and musician". The 17-year-old girl was also checked by doctors at the Son Espases Hospital in Majorcan according to the correct procedures before calling the police.

The identities of the two men are still being kept under wraps. According to the girl's testimony, two men, one 37 years old, one 42 years old, forced her to take a shower after performing their acts to remove evidence that could incriminate them.

Local authorities declined to identify the two men and did not answer any questions before the investigation.

As soon as this information was available, Vietnamese netizens immediately made speculations about two Vietnamese artists traveling to Spain at the same time as the incident.

Many people believe that the two mentioned characters are actor Hong Dang and musician Ho Hoai Anh. The age of the two artists is 37 and 42 which is also the same as in the articles.

At the same time, on the personal page, the two artists also shared a lot of pictures of traveling to Spain with a group of friends. In it, husband Luu Huong Giang shared a moment of golfing on the Spanish island of Mallorca with actor Hong Dang.

Most of the audience commented "so shocked" and said that it was hard to believe this, because the image of these two Vietnamese artists is famous for being serious at work, discreet in private life.

It is known that under Article 179 of the Spanish Penal Code, rape offenders can be punished with 6-12 years in prison. However, in May 2022, the Spanish Parliament passed a bill requiring explicit consent for sexual acts.

The new bill defines consent as a clear expression of one's will, that silence or passivity is not consent. Therefore, non-consensual sex can be considered sexual assault and carries a prison sentence of up to 15 years.

Currently, the identities of the two Vietnamese men accused of rape have not been revealed. Local media reported that they had their passports temporarily confiscated, banned from leaving the island to serve the investigation process.

Reportedly, the reporter contacted Hong Dang's phone number to find out the incident but could not be contacted. Currently, actor Hong Dang has locked his personal page.

On the same day, a source from VTV said that actor Hong Dang would not appear in the show Weekend Appointment (scheduled to air on the evening of July 2). Instead, the first character is actor Lan Phuong. This is a pre-recorded program with guests and then broadcast.

Regarding the incident, a representative of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports said that he had assigned the Hanoi Drama Theater - where the 37-year-old actor Hong Dang works - to report on unofficial information that this actor in connection with the case under investigation in Spain.

Specifically, the information was received by Mr. Pham Xuan Tai - deputy director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports - answering a question from Tuoi Tre Online at the second quarterly press conference of the Hanoi People's Committee on the afternoon of July 1.

Mr. Tai said: "Actor Hong Dang is on the staff of the Hanoi Drama Theater. According to unofficial information, actor Hong Dang is traveling to Europe and is related to the case being investigated."

The Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports has assigned the Hanoi Drama Theater to make an official report on the information about actor Hong Dang abroad.

Currently, the Hanoi Drama Theater has no content to report, so Mr. Tai will "beg", will officially inform the press agencies after the report of the Hanoi Drama Theater.

Previously, Mr. Trung Hieu - director of the Hanoi Drama Theater - said that Hong Dang had asked for his permission to go abroad, but at that time was absent from the theater, so he could not sign the certificate for Hong Dang.

Mr. Hieu said that according to regulations, workers going abroad must have the consent of the management agency.

He added that he had received information that Hong Dang lost his phone while traveling abroad, he had not been able to contact Hong Dang and did not know the actual situation.
