HIEU BAE: Tang Duy Tan's proud student, impressive debut with 11-song album

HIEU BAE is a new face in the Vietnamese music industry and is known as a student of male singer and musician Tang Duy Tan. He was introduced to the audience by his teacher in June last year.

HIEU BAE's real name is Bui Trung Hieu, born in 2000 and raised in Hanoi, debuted as a professional singer. The "newbie" of Big Arts Entertainment impresses with his outstanding height of 1m81 and is the owner of the song "Turn On Love" which became a hit on Valentine's Day 2023.

When asked about his chance to come to music, HIEU BAE shared: "Ever since he was in 11th grade, Hieu accidentally heard a song by singer Son Tung M-TP during a volleyball session. After that, Hieu's brothers brought out their guitars and sang the song "Passing Rain".

After listening to it, Hieu wondered who wrote this song because it was so good. After that, Hieu went home and looked for other songs by musician Son Tung M-TP to listen to and watch him perform.

The enthusiasm and explosion on stage of the singer from Thai Binh became a great source of motivation for HIEU BAE to pursue a musical career and start researching, practicing writing music and singing covers from then on.

In 2020, when Big Arts Entertainment posted a recruitment notice, looking for young talents, HIEU BAE saw his friends applying and decided to give it a try. At that time, the young man felt very lucky to become a trainee of the company. Here, he met and learned from his teacher, singer-songwriter Tang Duy Tan.

For HIEU BAE himself, Tang Duy Tan is a teacher and also a close brother who has been with him since the early days. Not only in the field of music and art, the owner of the hit "Cut Doi Noi Sau" also teaches his students many things.

"He always listens and is willing to share everything, especially teaching me professional attitude, telling me to never be a 'bad' artist", HIEU BAE shared. The male singer also revealed: "My youth made me fall a few times, so if it weren't for Tang Duy Tan's strictness, there was even a time when I thought I would be fired from the company, no longer having the opportunity to work, then perhaps there would not be a HIEU BAE of today".

Although heavily influenced by the musical style of Son Tung and his teacher, HIEU BAE always understands that: "An artist must always be creative and each individual has different features. If someone says that I am a copy or hiding in the shadow of Tang Duy Tan or Son Tung M-TP, I am very proud because both are recognized icons.

Therefore, becoming a copy of them is not easy. However, I also know that I need to have my own path in my own artistic path. Each individual needs to have a different creative path because our purpose is to paint the overall musical picture of Vietnam, not just to contribute to the entertainment."

During the composing process, HIEU BAE tried many different genres and genres of music and wrote many demos. The total number of songs that the rookie 2k sent to the company was more than 100. From there, 11 songs were selected for the Album "Color Palette" given to the audience on the occasion of his debut.

When he started working on the album, HIEU BAE was quite worried and afraid of being criticized for not focusing on a specific genre of music. However, Tang Duy Tan encouraged him that this was a new project that could create an interesting effect for everyone.

As soon as it was announced, HIEU BAE's "brainchild" attracted a lot of attention. This album includes 11 songs in 11 different genres such as House, Pop, Soul, City Pop,... More specifically, it also has a lyrical song dedicated to grandparents, parents and audiences of their generation.

In addition to his debut album, HIEU BAE also released the MV "Nuoc Mat Anh Con Roi". The song was inspired by a young man's broken love story. Although he tried to hold on to his lover, he had to give up because she had changed a long time ago. In the MV, the young male singer impressed with his emotional voice and skillful dancing ability.

At the "rookie" launch, Tang Duy Tan revealed that normally his company would contact the successful casting candidate through an assistant, but in the case of HIEU BAE, as soon as he heard the product demo, the male singer and musician directly called to recruit the young talent to the team.

When asked about HIEU BEA's musical ability, Tang Duy Tan affirmed: "As my student, he is never a bad artist." The singer from Hanoi himself said he was very happy and proud to be called "a copy of Tang Duy Tan" and affirmed that he is always grateful and respectful to his senior.

HIEU BAE always realizes that to make art, you need to put your heart and seriousness into it. You have to conquer the music listeners with your voice, melody, choreography and professional attitude.

"There is no easy path to success. So I think the only way to achieve it is to strive every day, trying to improve myself and my music, more than yesterday and always less than tomorrow," HIEU BAE shared.

With constant efforts, efforts and awareness of his own abilities, along with the guarantee of the hit "Turn On Love", hopefully rookie HIEU BAE will gradually be more accepted by the audience.
