The women said they chose to participate in Heartshine because points were calculated based on what they did for the community, not on how well they dressed or learned how to perform.
Celebrating the diversity of contestants while emphasizing inner qualities, scoring points based on community projects makes Heartshine receive many compliments.
Competition co-director Mack-Barnes said: "The mission is always to let your heart shine, to always give back to the community."
The first contestant in history to enter the Miss Universe final without makeup
Melisa Raouf, a 20-year-old university student from south London, made it to the semi-finals of the Miss England pageant with a bare face. She will compete for the crown in the finale this October.
