Doan Van Hau was born in 1999, he used to play as a left back for the Hanoi Police Club and the Vietnam national team.

At the age of 13, Doan Van Hau was recruited to U15 Hanoi T&T. He was considered by coach Vu Hong Viet to be a player who plays well both as a defender and midfielder, plays very well with his left foot and is able to launch powerful and accurate long shots. Doan Van Hau won the national U19 championship with Hanoi T&T youth team in 2016, 2017 and won the national U21 championship in 2016.
