Walking in the Radiant Sky - final episode: "Stupid" ending, Chai and Pu leave the audience disappointed

Episode 58 (the final episode) of the movie "Walking in the Bright Sky" aired on the evening of October 18. The shortened version compared to the previous schedule made many viewers feel both disappointed and unsatisfied with the ending.

In this episode, during the meal, Mr. Vinh (Meritorious Artist Duc Khue) announced the good news that he had found an investor for the herbal medicine project, the investor was Trang Dai (Huong Tuoi) - an old classmate. Chai (Long Vu) agreed to clear up the misunderstanding with Quang (Vo Hoai Vu), then the group of friends went to visit his hometown and Pu (Thu Ha Ceri).

Returning to the village, Chai and Pu both have matured in their thinking. In the final scenes, the film incorporates Pu's image in the lecture hall and her wishes.

"There was only one road leading out of the village, but we, the young children, took that road at different times with different dreams and goals.

Then, when I have the university degree I dream of, I will return to help the villagers. I have learned that traveling is to grow up, grow up is to return, and return is to build the homeland," Pu's words are like the message the film conveys.

Meanwhile, Chai confidently asserted: "When I left, I was a guy who didn't know what to do, but now I can do everything to take care of my family, of Chieu's father...

When I left the village, I ran after Pu. And now, everyone look, Pu is following me back to the village!", Chai's dialogue closes the film with the scene of him running after Pu in the rice field.

On the YouTube channel of the film producer, as of the morning of October 19, the final episode had reached more than 1.6 million views. On some forums, the majority of viewers commented that the ending was beautiful but "the beginning is an elephant, the end is a mouse" and expressed disappointment that the film "Walking in the Bright Sky" ended too quickly and blandly.

Pu, Chai and Ta's return to their homeland was criticized as unreasonable. The characters' dialogue was heavy on messages but too much in this context.

Specifically, Pu is still just a first-year student, and has not achieved any academic success. Since coming to Hanoi, Pu has been dragged into trivial, rambling stories with her two roommates or has feelings for Thai. Instead, she has to work hard to study to fulfill her dream of building her homeland. Therefore, Pu's warm welcome when returning home or her formal dialogues are commented as clichéd and forced.

Similar to Chai, jobs in the city such as motorbike taxi driver, delivery man... are not enough to convince him that he is truly mature and can take care of his family. Moreover, the situation where Pu and her group of friends visit their hometown does not match the dialogue of her following Chai's call of love.

Previously, the film was constantly criticized for plot holes. The acting of Thu Ha Ceri (Pu) and Thai (Vuong Anh Ole) was also a controversial topic. Some even said that public pressure caused the film to suddenly stop airing at episode 58, instead of the originally planned 100 episodes.

However, director Do Thanh Son denied the above information. He affirmed that Di Giua Troi Ruc Ro ended at episode 58, which was in the original plan of the producer. The project shortened the number of episodes not because of criticism from the audience regarding the script or the acting of the cast.

Despite the controversy, on his personal page, actor Long Vu - who played the role of Chai in Di Giua Troi Ruc Ro - also said goodbye when the last episode of the series aired. Long Vu said that this was a long journey with many challenges and difficulties but filled with precious memories for him.
