Dang Van Lam was born on August 13, 1993 in Moscow, Russia, into a family with an artistic tradition. His father, artist Dang Van Son, is a talented ballet dancer, and his mother, Olga Zhukova, is Russian. During the period 2011-2013, he did not have the opportunity to play for Hoang Anh Gia Lai and was then loaned to Hoang Anh Attapeu (Laos) in 2012.

After years of searching for opportunities abroad, Van Lam returned to Russia to play for Duslar Moscow (2013-2014) and Rodina Moscow (2014-2015). These experiences helped him mature professionally and gain more playing experience.

The real turning point in Dang Van Lam's career came in 2015 when he joined Hai Phong club. Here, under the guidance of coach Truong Viet Hoang, Van Lam's talent was discovered and shone brightly. With an ideal height (1m88), excellent reflexes, the ability to control the penalty area and certainty in high balls, he quickly became an irreplaceable pillar of the Hai Phong team.

The period 2015-2019 was a successful period for Van Lam in Hai Phong. He played an important role in helping the team win the V.League 2016 runner-up position and the National Super Cup 2017.
