Continuing the talent of his parents, the eldest son of Dancesport grandmaster couple Khanh Thi - Phan Hien officially won the world championship for the second time at the dancesport Syllabus World Championship tournament.

On the afternoon of April 23, Phan Hien and Khanh Thi shared about the outstanding achievements of their son Kubi (Minh Cuong). Kubi and his dance partner May (Linh San) won the world championship in children's division 1 (6-9 years old) for the second time at the dancesport Syllabus World Championship tournament.

"Once again, Kubi and May made my parents burst into tears, listening to the Vietnamese national anthem again. Thi's mother was at home waiting for news at 3 a.m. and crying," Khanh Thi said.

The female dancesport champion further shared that when her son went to Italy to "fight" this year, she could not go with her due to being busy with work and taking care of her daughter Lisa. Phan Hien is Kubi's companion as a coach. Previously, to prepare for the tournament, Kubi and his dance partner had several months to practice under the supervision of Phan Hien and his wife and many other dancesport teachers.

This year, Kubi and May registered for two competitions, Standard and Latin, at the Syllabus World Championship 2024 . In the Standard content with 5 dances Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Slow Foxtrot and Quickstep, the two girls stopped in the semi-finals with 12th place. Phan Hien said this is an achievement that Kubi and May have worked very hard for. First time trying this content.

As for Latin, the two girls maintained their form when going through 4 tough rounds with more than 70 pairs of contestants around the world to be named in the 6 pairs of finalists. Despite meeting many strong opponents from Russia, Italy, Albania, Austria, Peru, and Moldova in the final round, in the end, Kubi and May were crowned champions.

Being present at the competition field and witnessing the moment his son stood on the podium to receive the gold medal, Phan Hien could not hide his pride. "Thank you two for allowing international friends to hear the Vietnamese National Anthem. For athletes, winning first prize may be easy, but maintaining achievements is difficult," he expressed.

Kubi's real name is Nguyen Minh Cuong, born in 2015, the first child of a pair of dancesport artists. His parents introduced him to dancing at the age of two, and practiced dancesport at the age of four. In 2019, for the first time, Ku Bi and her co-star - baby Sau - won a silver medal at the Sports Dance Stars Festival.

After that, Kubi was registered by her parents to participate in many domestic dancesport tournaments to hone her experience on the stage. In 2020, Ku Bi won two bronze medals at the National Championship. Two years later, in the same tournament, he improved his achievements with two gold medals. In 2022, Ku Bi continued to win the gold medal in the Artistic Sports Dance Championship - Linedance District 3 Open.

Previously, when he won the gold medal at the Syllabus World Championship 2023, Kubi once shared: "I idolize my parents. Every time I look at my parents' medals and achievements, I feel very proud. I have loved dancing since when I was 3 years old. At that time, I thought my parents danced so well, I should also learn to dance and follow this profession to make my parents happy."

Khanh Thi, 42 years old, from Hanoi. Her parents are artists of the General Political Department Art Troupe. Artist and dancer Phan Hien, 30 years old, is involved in dancesport and in life. In 2009, they won two gold medals at the Asian Dancesport Championship, helping Phan Hien become a dancesport grandmaster at the age of 16. In addition to competing, they accompanied many game shows and events, and opened an art training center in Ho Chi Minh City. They held their wedding in December 2022 after 14 years together and have three children: Ku Bi, nine years old, Anna, six years old, and baby Lisa, four months old.
