In 1955, artist Pham Bang became a student at the Public Transport College. During his studies at school, at the urging of his friends, he also participated in a few plays "for fun".

In 1956, when he was studying in the second year of the Public Transport College, he had to drop out of school due to family circumstances.

In 1959, artist Pham Bang joined the amateur troupe of poet Hoang Cam and writer Nguyen Huy Tuong.

In the same year, the State recruited students for the Hanoi literary troupe, and at the same time, opened the University of Theater I. Pham Bang was recruited from both places, but in the end, he chose to enter the Hanoi literary troupe. , because according to him: "Going into the public sector to study and act, and at the same time earn extra money to support the family, while going to theater school had to pay tuition fees. I had no other choice. At that time. , my family is too poor, on the other hand, I got married while there was no job."

In 1964, the Hanoi troupe, along with the cai luong and cheo troupes, were separated and started their own lives. At the Hanoi troupe, director Nguyen Dinh Nghi invited Pham Bang to participate in plays. He became famous for his villain roles. After that, director Tran Hoat started to do a few comedies with the participation of artist Pham Bang.

In late 1974 and early 1975, artist Pham Bang transferred to the Central theater troupe.

In the first stage of career, Meritorious Artist Pham Bang's life has not been over. The salary is not enough to live, even the most thrifty spending is only 10 days, the remaining 20 days of the month are "twisted". And that miserable life lasted for more than ten years.

From 2000 to 2007, the program "Meet the Weekend" produced and broadcast by VTV was also the place to bring the name of artist Pham Bang as well as many other artists closer to the public.

At the same time, artist Pham Bang still participates in Tet comedy DVDs and TV series. A year ago, due to poor health, he did not accept the invitation to go to the movies.

4 months ago, artist Pham Bang was diagnosed with gallbladder obstruction leading to hepatitis. Despite having undergone 2 surgeries and health in recent days, there are signs of good progress. However, at 20:00 on October 31, Meritorious Artist Pham Bang took his last breath at Hong Ngoc Hospital, Hanoi.

He used to want his son to be a teacher like his late father, so when Pham Bang turned to another direction, he always mocked the acting career that Pham Bang pursued with bitter and sarcastic statements every time. Pham Bang never saw his mother happy, never saw his mother praising him, nor did she ever come to see him act, even though at that time he was considered a famous theater actor in Ha Thanh land.

My wife is not the best, the most beautiful girl, but I chose her because I know for sure that there is only one. My mother herself, when she was still a great-grandmother, had to endure the harshness of her mother-in-law. Fortunately, my wife is a child of a religious family, so she gritted her teeth and endured her scrutiny without a word. I know all my wife's suffering, but I can't speak up to defend her."

"There are days, Sunday, a day off, when the couple wants to visit their grandmother's house, they have to stand in front of her and ask for permission: "Mother, we would like to visit Grandma!" Recalling the old story, he choked, loving his wife, who had passed away for more than 15 years. This is the most uncertain time, he lives like a shadow in his own house, the house full of imprints of his mother and wife.

He and his children depended too much on the caring hand of a good woman in the family, so unfortunately she passed away early, leaving his father and son helpless because they lacked a fulcrum. I take care of my father not as much as my grandmother takes care of him. He did not have a cozy family meal. Every time he returned from performing, leaving laughter behind the door, he faced a boundless emptiness.

His four children, two of them are abroad, he lives with the other two children, a boy and a girl, they are all old but still unmarried. Back in the house, they only know how to look at each other, full of people who are quiet, afraid to communicate and live frugally day by day.
