In 1981, Chi Tai immigrated to the US under the sponsorship of a family, intending to create a new life in the US by studying English, computers and taking a break from participating in the arts. However, he remained passionate about art despite his family's objections. He also enrolled in piano lessons and jazz classes near his home.

With a pension from his father to buy an electronic sound system, including drums and musical instruments, Chi Tai founded a young music group, from which he founded a band called "Chi Tai's Brothers", as well as taking on the position of "Chi Tai's Brothers". guitar player in the group. The first person to invite Chi Tai to perform a comedy was Van Son, but perhaps at that time the fate had not come so he did not feel comfortable. Chi Tai refused and introduced Hoai Linh to Van Son, while he continued to return to his previous job as a musician.

Until Hoai Linh asked Chi Tai to act together, he really accepted. He said that Hoai Linh was invited to be a co-star because before, in a conversation, Hoai Linh saw him talking very charmingly, his face was full of artists, so he realized that he had the qualities to be an actor. comedian.

Chi Tai shared that the shift to comedy was because of the sand issue. According to him, in the past, musicians and musicians were paid very low salaries, and still worked hard. Talking about the opportunity to act in comedy, Chi Tai once revealed that it was a story more than 20 years ago on the overseas stage. At that time, artist Hoai Linh was in need of a partner, so he asked him to act with him. Even the show voted to make the actor agree. Chi Tai said that night, he took on the role of playing the piano. After that, the male artist put on a vest and returned to perform comedy.

Talking about his memories of acting in comedy, Chi Tai remembers that he had participated in Luong Son Ba, Chuc Anh Dai. Hoai Linh was supposed to be the one to play the female role, but the center suggested that he pretend to be a girl, causing the male artist to be confused.

"I discussed it with Hoai Linh and Linh said to do it. I had to wear a pair of high shoes. When I walked, I fell because I was not used to it. I was very shy to play that role, but I had to try. Hoai Linh walked in and said: "Say it. Be honest with me, you look terrible, but I have to play the role of loving you, I don't know how I can do it."

Lucky to have a sympathetic wife

In 1987, he married singer Phuong Loan - also the lead singer in the group Chi Tai Brothers. She stopped singing when Chi Tai switched to acting. Over 30 years of marriage, the couple has no children.

In the early 90s of the last century, he began to build a career and become famous on the overseas stage. In 2000, he returned to Vietnam to live and participate in art activities, which has been 20 years so far.

About love, Chi Tai confided that before he met his wife in 1979, he had experienced several love affairs. The male artist identifies himself as a faithful person when he has been with singer Phuong Loan for more than 40 years. "My nature is very afraid of change. When I met her, my wife was a singer who sang with my band for a while. Now she is retired but sometimes still sings at church," he said.

During his lifetime, artist Chi Tai always mentioned his wife with love and happiness.
