At the trial on May 8, the trial panel announced the decision to merge the two cases into one by the Chief Justice of the Go Vap District People's Court. The lawyer representing Miss Thuy Tien also suggested separating the two cases for independent trial. At the request of the lawyer, the chairman announced that Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien had previously proposed to merge 2 cases into one.

The representative of the Procuracy said that due to the fact that the testimony had not been collected, the mediation had not been conducted, the case could not be resolved thoroughly, and asked the jury to suspend the trial. After conferring, the trial panel suggested that the two sides present their requests in writing, and at the same time decided to suspend the trial, and the reopening time would be announced later.

For the property loan contract dispute, the plaintiff, Ms. Dang Thuy Trang, sued Miss Thuy Tien for compensation of 2.4 billion VND. According to the petition filed by Ms. Dang Thuy Trang, in 2017, Miss Thuy Tien proposed to borrow 1.5 billion VND to compete in the Miss South Vietnam contest. The defendant wrote a loan letter, promising to pay after winning the prize. However, after winning the crown, Thuy Tien stole money.

Ms. Trang said that in April 2019, Thuy Tien invited Ms. Trang to go to a cafe in Binh Thanh District (HCMC) to pay, provided that she presented the original loan document.
