Singer Thien Phu: The teacher became the champion of the first season of Vietnamese Impression

Possessing an emotional voice and good vocal skills, singer Thien Phu conquered judges People's Artist Ta Minh Tam, Meritorious Artist Anh Tuyet... to win the first season of "Vietnamese Impression".

"Vietnamese Imprint" 2024 is a competition to find talents in traditional revolutionary music, lyrical - folk songs, praising the homeland. The program aired its first episode from March 9, then aired at 9pm every Saturday on THVL1 channel.

The contest is divided into 2 groups: Singer Group and Contestant Group. The Singer Group consists of guest singers participating in the program through 3 rounds to compete for the "Most Favorite Singer" award in the program.

After that, the guest singers stay to continue participating in the Contestant Panel as advisors, guides and companions to the contestants in each round.

With the Contestant Board, there are 20 contestants selected from the preliminary round and go through the semi-finals, final 1, final 2 and final 3 to find the winner.

The final ranking round aired on the evening of September 7th is a competition between the 3 contestants with the highest scores from the third final: Kim Lien, Thien Phu and Hoang Yen. This round consists of 3 parts: Challenge, medley about Uncle Ho and harmony.

In the first part (Challenge), all three contestants drew three songs given by the organizers: Linh Thieng Viet Nam, Dat Nuoc Tron Niu Vui, Duong Chung Ta Di.

Thien Phu drew the song "The Country is Full of Joy" and performed it very successfully, receiving many compliments from the judges for his voice, the way he handled the song, as well as his creativity and innovation of the song.

Judge Meritorious Artist Anh Tuyet commented: "I really like this performance, Thien Phu innovated the opening part very well, different from the versions of other singers. I think this is your A in the competition and you got my high score."

In the second round (Medley about Uncle Ho), each contestant chooses a song about Uncle Ho to create a medley of 3 songs.

In this round, Thien Phu chose the song "Nguoi song mai trong long mien Nam" (composer Nguyen Dong Nai). Thien Phu received positive comments from the judges, especially his soaring vocal ability.

Judge My Le commented: "Thien Phu's voice is very beautiful, very emotional. Especially the vocal part is very bright, very good. Even I myself am not sure I could do such good vocals. Congratulations on an excellent performance."

Commenting on the performance, People's Artist Judge Ta Minh Tam said: "This is a song that seems to be only for male voices, this is also a big challenge for you, although it is difficult for you, it brings excitement to the audience today. I congratulate you for performing a song that moved me very much, and I really welcome your performance."

In the final round of the Harmony competition, all three contestants sang a trio of the song Aspiration (composer Pham Minh Tuan) given by the organizers.

In the end, the judges announced the results of the contestant with the highest score in the final ranking night, becoming the champion of "Vietnamese Impression" 2024, singer Thien Phu. The first runner-up and second runner-up respectively belonged to singers Kim Lien and Hoang Yen.

After 5 rounds, Thien Phu always had the highest score among all the contestants and was at the top of the table in 4/5 rounds.

Sharing about the difficulties when participating in the contest, singer Thien Phu said: "Sometimes because of too much pressure, there were times when Thien Phu thought about giving up, but because of my passion and this was an opportunity to affirm myself in the traditional revolutionary music genre, I was determined and tried my best to follow the contest to the end."

Thien Phu is from Binh Thuan, and used to be a music teacher at an elementary school. She has won several awards such as: Top 3 Sao Mai Mien Nam 2015 - chamber music, Third Prize in the Red Flower Singing Contest 2014 (Ho Chi Minh City Television), First Prize in Binh Thuan Province Television Singing Contest 2014, Second Prize in VOH Good Voice (Ho Chi Minh City People's Voice) 2013...

Thien Phu started her career in music after winning awards and singing until now. After 10 years, she returned to participate in the music competition Dau An Viet 2014 and became the champion.

Thien Phu graduated from the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music in 2016, possessing a Soprano voice. Through the process of training and studying at the conservatory, Thien Phu has increasingly perfected his singing voice.

Because she was trained in a professional environment, Thien Phu can sing any genre of music. However, traditional revolutionary music is still her strength and she is always confident when singing.

Currently, the female singer is studying for a master's degree at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, majoring in Music Teaching Theory and Methods.

She is also an artist who participated three times with the Ho Chi Minh City Delegation to visit Truong Sa, DK1 platform (2015, 2026, 2022), and the Southwest islands (2018), actively performing to encourage the spirit of officers and soldiers on remote islands.
