It is known that the male singer's grandfather is writer Pham Duy Ton, his two uncles are scholar Pham Duy Khiem and musician Pham Duy Nhuong. Singer Duy Quang's father is Pham Duy Can - talented musician Pham Duy. Not stopping there, his mother is the famous singer Thai Hang, his aunt is the famous singer Thai Thanh and his uncle is the famous musician Pham Dinh Chuong.

He studied music theory at the age of 10 and officially entered the music industry at the age of 17. In addition to singing, he also knows how to play Mandolin, Guitar, Piano, Drums.

At the age of 17, he and his brothers formed a youth band called The Dreamers. Ban The Dreamers is led by Duy Quang with the members: Duy Quang (singer, bass guitar), Duy Minh (drums), Duy Cuong (harmony, arrangement and piano), Thai Hien (singer). .

The Dreamer has become one of the flagships of the Saigon youth music movement. This is also the band that specializes in replaying the most popular international songs. At that time, Duy Quang was still very lucky to be composed by a famous musician father for many songs; By now it has become a legend.

In 1975, when Saigon was liberated, Pham Duy, singer Thai Hang and 4 children of Duy Quang went abroad to settle down. At that time, only Duy Quang and 3 brothers remained. During this period, Duy Quang took care of the children instead of his parents. Duy Quang was almost inactive in music until 1978, through the help and advocacy of musician Tran Van Khe and Julie, Duy Quang was able to immigrate to France.
The reason Duy Quang came to France from Vietnam, not the US with his parents, was because he was sponsored by Julie, because she had French nationality and came here in 1974.
In 1982, Duy Quang and Julie broke up after sharing a daughter. Two years later, he officially married Mrs. My Ha, then a Vietnamese beauty in Washington. However, the two officially broke up in 2002. In overseas, Duy Quang's voice is still loved by many people with hundreds of songs recorded.
In 2004, Duy Quang intended to return to Vietnam, a year later, he and Duy Cuong and his musician father Pham Duy returned home and bought a house to live in District 11. In his hometown, he continued to sing songs old love songs, in addition to the tea room business.
In 2007, he continued to marry singer Yen Xuan, but the marriage quickly broke down two years later. After this breakup, he rarely participated in events, lived a closed, quiet life.
In October 2012, he was diagnosed with late stage liver cancer. On November 7, the same year, his family took him to the US for treatment. During this time, he lost weight very quickly, weighing only 20 kg, weak health and often in a deep coma.

Duy Quang once shared that "I met Julie when I was 17 years old, we were the same age, we tasted the same sweetness of love when we were young. She had a beautiful voice.
