According to designer Lucas Hoang, Nam Phong’s close friend for 14 years, the late designer had a history of severe COVID infection, causing serious lung damage. Since then, his health has gradually declined, requiring him to be hospitalized repeatedly in critical condition.

At the end of 2024, during his first emergency visit, doctors even diagnosed Nam Phong with only a 10% chance of survival. However, with extraordinary will and dedicated treatment, he miraculously recovered after 25 days of intensive treatment, bringing hope to those around him.
