Behind the 18K gold-plated laurel wreath for the 2025 Olympia Champion is an emotional journey of creation, where each leaf is not only carved with craftsmanship but also with the memories, beliefs and aspirations of a generation.
Among the millions of eyes watching the final match of the 25th "Road to Olympia", there is a moment that is always awaited: the moment the laurel wreath is placed on the winner's head. But this year, that moment will have a different layer of light - not just the light of metal, but the light of memory, of national pride, of a journey of knowledge engraved on each leaf.
The Olympia 2025 laurel wreath was crafted by designer Do Van Tri â who has been involved with the program for 11 years. He is not only a shaper, but also a storyteller in metal. Each Olympia season, he âwritesâ a new chapter in brass, using modern PVD gold plating techniques, with embossed lines and sophisticated beveled edges. But this year, that story is more special.
2025 is not only the 25th year of Olympia. It also marks the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, the 80th anniversary of National Day September 2, and the 11th year that designer Do Van Tri has accompanied the program. Therefore, this year's laurel wreath is not just a beautiful design - it is a symbol "plated" by time, by the memories of a generation that grew up with Olympia.
âFor me, the laurel wreath is not only a symbol of glory but also a mark of my intellectual journey,â he shared. And that journey began with a week-long sketch, followed by ten days of carving, hammering, and welding, then another ten days of polishing, 18K gold vacuum plating, and scratch-resistant nano coating. A total of more than two months of work â but the idea had been incubated for nearly a year.
This yearâs wreath is more open, the laurel leaves are arranged in alternating layers to create a sense of movement â like the constant flow of knowledge. Each leaf is embossed, beveled, and finished with a mirror finish â not just for beauty, but to reflect the light of the stage, of faith, of aspiration.
And then, on the back â where few people notice â is a five-pointed gold star. Not for decoration, but as a reminder: Vietnamese intelligence always shines. "That star is an affirmation of national pride, a message I want to send to you that you should put patriotism and the desire to contribute first," he said.
This yearâs wreath had a double-heavy version â but he remade it entirely, just to keep the âfloatingâ feeling of light on the golden leaves. Because, according to him, the winner needed not only a beautiful wreath, but also a light one â one that wouldnât feel heavy on the head, but still sturdy enough to not fade over time.
If I had to use three words to describe this year's bracelet, designer Do Van Tri would choose: "Tri - Quang - Minh". Tri is knowledge, Quang is light, Minh is clarity and integrity. A bracelet that not only honors victory, but also honors the journey of overcoming oneself.
And when the golden light reflects on the Olympia 2025 stage, it will not just be the light of metal â but the light of a generation rising with knowledge, with aspiration, with the belief that: glory does not only come from victory, but also from the journey of self-improvement.
