Male singer Tuan Khang (GMC group) came to America in 2017 after ending his nearly 20-year singing journey. He lives with his wife and son in Stephens city, Virginia, USA.
Initially, the singer helped take care of the family's nail salon, while learning and adapting to a new life. Musician Tat Tung, Tuan Khang's father, said he was smart and active, so when he encountered difficulties, he could easily solve them.
The singer once confided to his parents about the sadness and emptiness of not having many friends and acquaintances in America. According to Mr. Tung, Tuan Khang misses the stage and received many invitations to perform but refused because he was busy taking care of his children.
In the photo, the singer holds her son when he is two years old. He has sent his children back to Vietnam to visit their grandparents several times. She doesn't know Vietnamese so she often communicates with people in English.
Musician Tat Tung said his son lives very well in America thanks to favorable business. He can do many jobs and is willing to learn and experience things he has never tried before.
"Khang came to America for three years and got citizenship. Several times, I invited my parents to visit me, but we are old, not in good health, and afraid of cold weather," the singer's father said.
He added that Tuan Khang is good at English and has good pronunciation, so he is confident in communicating. In addition, he passed his driver's license exam earlier than expected.
Tuan Khang also actively participates in classes to improve foreign languages, skills, goes to the gym, and travels.
Mr. Tung proudly showed off his son, who excelled in the community education class and was praised and loved by the teachers.
According to musician Tat Tung, Tuan Khang's life changed a bit after the Covid-19 epidemic, when the economy was in crisis. At this time, he often expressed himself to his family through phone calls and was encouraged by his parents 'if it's difficult, come back'.
Previously, Mr. Tung did not support his son pursuing art but wanted him to do administrative work and then sing as a side job. But now, seeing that his son is anxious to return to the stage, he also agrees.
However, when he was discussing with his son to renovate the room and buy some equipment for him to return to Vietnam to find development opportunities, something happened.
He died on December 15 when he fell from the rooftop. Before that, he left unfinished a conversation with a friend about plans for a music night and production...
Tuan Khang's other name is Phuoc Nguyen, born in 1981, from Nghe An. Since childhood, he liked to sing but was shy so he had to let his parents urge him to perform.
Growing up, the singer and his brother, guitarist Tat Thang, played songs that young people loved. At the age of 18, he joined Nhac Xanh company, became a member of the GMC group and became famous after a few months of debut.
At that time, the group had a lot of shows and often went to provincial shows, causing Tuan Khang's studies at the University of Economics in Ho Chi Minh City to be affected. He once went to perform and forgot about the graduation exam schedule, and his father asked him to study again until he firmly held a bachelor's degree in his hand.
In the late 2000s, Tuan Khang entered the acting and MC field through his father's introduction. He participated in two movies: Tracing and The Green Haunting, and also developed a restaurant business with two friends. The male singer said he had interesting experiences in new fields but always missed the feeling of standing on stage performing.
For him, music is always the most important job. Meanwhile, business, acting or MCing are just side jobs for him to nurture his passion and love for music. The male singer confided that he was satisfied with his achievements in the field of singing.
In 2016, Tuan Khang got married and moved to the US with his wife and children a year later. In America, the male singer focused on business and sang at some small events.
The male singer still livestreams on his personal page and also posts photos to update his daily life. Occasionally, Tuan Khang releases some music products, such as the MV Quietly With You released in 2020. The song was composed by musician Hoang Luan. Tuan Khang remains loyal to the ballad genre. He still maintains his sweet, emotional voice even though he no longer performs as much as before.
