Tran Hoang Ai Nhi, one of the prominent faces of the Vietnamese beauty industry, represented the country at the Miss Intercontinental 2021 contest held in Egypt.

With her elegant beauty, standard figure and confidence, Ai Nhi brought great hope to the Vietnamese audience when entering the international beauty arena. However, her journey to the contest encountered an unexpected incident when Egyptian customs temporarily detained her luggage on suspicion of smuggling, causing a significant impact on the competition process.

Tran Hoang Ai Nhi was born in 1998 in Dak Lak, a land famous for its majestic nature and friendly people. From a young ag.e, Ai Nhi showed a passion for art and beauty. She is 1m71 tall, has measurements of 86-60-90 and a lovely face, helping her quickly attract attention when entering the entertainment industry.

Before participating in Miss Intercontinental 2021, Ai Nhi had experience competing in many domestic beauty contests. She was in the top 10 of Miss World Vietnam 2019 and the top 22 of Miss Vietnam 2020. On October 15, 2021, Ai Nhi officially left for Egypt to participate in Miss Intercontinental 2021. She brought more than 80kg of luggage, including evening gowns, national costumes and accessories carefully prepared for the competitions. However, when she just arrived at Cairo airport, she encountered an unexpected incident. Egyptian customs temporarily detained 15 dresses along with many of her accessories and shoes on suspicion of smuggling clothes.

According to Ai Nhi, the costumes were carefully packaged and had elaborate designs and intricate embellishments, making customs suspect that they were commercial goods. Although she explained that these were personal belongings brought to participate in the beauty contest and provided an invitation letter from the organizing committee, customs still decided to keep the luggage. This incident left Ai Nhi with only about 4-5 costumes, causing great difficulties for her in the activities and competitions at the contest.

Having her luggage confiscated has significantly affected Ai Nhi's performance at Miss Intercontinental 2021. In some of the first activities, she did not have enough suitable outfits, not even a bikin.i to participate in the photo shoo.t. This forced her to change her dress plan and find a way to improvise with what was left.

Despite the difficulties, Ai Nhi still maintains an optimistic and determined spirit. She shared: "The beginning is a bit unfavorable, but Nhi will still try her best with the spirit of 'how much I have, how much I fight', definitely not to disappoint the Vietnamese audience." Her resilience and efforts have received support and encouragement from the domestic audience.

Ai Nhi’s incident has attracted great attention from the media and the public. Many people expressed their concern and sent words of encouragement to her, and hoped that the pageant’s organizers would intervene to resolve the issue. Representatives of the unit that sent Ai Nhi to participate in the pageant have also contacted the Miss Intercontinental organizers to ask for assistance in retrieving the detained luggage.
