Stephanie Young Hwang, commonly known by her stage name Tiffany or Tiffany Young, is a popular Korean-American singer and actress, as well as a former member of the national boy band SNSD.
Tiffany was born and raised in California, USA, although the living conditions were not destitute, but her childhood also suffered many misfortunes.
In 2002, when she was just thirteen years old, Tiffany's mother died of foolish thoughts due to life pressures, leaving her alone to live with her biological father. Two years after her mother's tragic passing, Tiffany is determined to return to Korea to pursue an artistic career as well as start a new life that makes her mother proud.
Despite opposition from her relatives, with relentless efforts, she finally officially became a trainee under SM Entertainment. In 2007, Tiffany was announced as one of the nine members of SNSD.
Besides her singing ability, she is highly appreciated for her foreign language ability and appearance. In particular, Tiffany has lovely and attractive smiling eyes. Her sparkling eyes not only help Tiffany sympathize with the other person, but also help her transform her image every time she appears. Fans soon nicknamed her "Smiley Eyes".
In 2009, SNSD released their mini album Gee. In just the first few hours after its release, the title track of the same name became a phenomenon of the Korean music scene. It can be said that Gee's success laid a solid foundation for the group on the way to becoming top stars.
Taking advantage of the heat of their debut album, the girls once again returned with the super hit Tell Me Your Wish. The song was once again phenomenal, selling nearly 60,000 copies in its first week alone, double Gee's previous number.
In addition to the album's release, SNSD also toured with other artists around the world such as Shanghai, Los Angeles, Paris, and Tokyo. After an exciting year in various markets, SNSD was named in three categories at the Golden Globe Awards, including Album of the Year.
It can be said that the time when SNSD's music projects resonate a lot is also the time when Tiffany is more noticed when she is always valued by the public as a core piece of the group as one of the main vocalists. In particular, the singer's characteristic hoarse voice has created a variety of colors for the group and at the same time become her own outstanding mark.
The following years with SNSD were the glorious days of Tiffany. She contributed greatly to the success of SNSD's hit songs such as Mr. Taxi or The Boys when she took on the role of lead vocalist in the group.
These songs not only made a big splash during their debut but also lived with time and made the youth of millions of young music lovers across Asia.
Tiffany's impressive performance in SNSD's previous music projects was highly appreciated by the agency, so she was chosen to become a member of the subgroup Girls' Generation-TTS along with her two close teammates, Taeyeon and Seohyun.
In addition, Tiffany also took on many other personal projects during her time at SM, especially songs for dramas and movies.
At the most flourishing stage of her career with SNSD, those who thought that Tiffany would peacefully advance after quality music projects, the unfortunate entanglement of a political scandal caused her to go through a series of miserable days in her career.
In August 2016, Tiffany posted a photo on Snapchat with the caption "Tokyo Japan" with a motif of the rising sun flag, symbolizing the Japanese empire. This act was inadvertently seen as a painful reminder of the brutal rule of the Japanese empire.
The incident became even more serious when Tiffany posted the photo on the occasion of Korea's National Day. The singer apologized soon afterwards but could not calm the extreme outrage of a section of the Korean people.
Since this incident, a string of dark days in her career also began when tens of thousands of people filed petitions forcing Tiffany to leave SNSD and stop appearing in public.
In the face of that wave of angry reactions, KBS was forced to "ban" Tiffany. She is also no longer the face that brands "choose to send gold" as before. In addition, Tiffany was "crossed out" by SM from the company's twentieth birthday party in Hawaii to continue her self-review. Japan has inflicted on Korea.
Not long after being ostracized in Korea due to political scandals, Tiffany was rumored to be leaving SNSD and returning to the United States to pursue an acting career. This rumor was officially confirmed when Tiffany officially changed her stage name Tiffany Young.
This act also marked the end of her nearly twenty-year journey with SNSD, and many people also implicitly understood that it was also her departure from the Korean entertainment industry.
In 2018, she joined Paradigm Agency - a large entertainment company that is managing many names such as: Ed Sheeran, Alan Walker, Jason Mraz, Imagine Dragons. Here, the singer released a number of music products such as: "Over My Skin", "Teach You", "Magnetic Moon", "Lips On Lips" ...
Besides, the singer also held a solo concert in Korea after a period of focusing on developing her music career in the US. At the age of 35, Tiffany has many changes in appearance as well as fashion sense. The idol dresses sexier, bolder than before.
However, this beautiful face and slim physique is still undeniable. Despite leaving SM, Tiffany still keeps in touch and has a close relationship with the members. Occasionally, she participates in entertainment shows in Korea with the members of SNSD.
