On March 20th, the My Son Commune Police (Khanh Hoa) received a complaint regarding allegations of property misappropriation against "Thich Nhuan Dat," and are verifying the information circulating and disputes on social media.
On March 20th, according to information from the Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper, the My Son Commune Police (Khanh Hoa province) officially received a complaint from Ms. NTMT. The complaint concerns a man known online as "Thich Nhuan Dat," who is accused of misappropriating property. Upon receiving the complaint, the authorities assigned officers to verify and clarify the entire matter in accordance with current legal procedures.
A representative from the My Son Commune Police also stated that, regarding the information circulating on social media about the man allegedly making counter-accusations against Ms. NTMT, the police have not yet received any complaint from him. This means that the information circulating online has not been confirmed by the authorities.
Previously, social media was flooded with posts and content claiming that "Thich Nhuan Dat" had filed a complaint with the Khanh Hoa Provincial Police, accusing a woman named T. of threatening, coercing, and seizing personal documents, social media accounts, and even money from her bank account. Some posts also claimed that this person's honor and reputation had been severely damaged by the spread of false information, and therefore requested that authorities investigate and clarify the entire matter.
Furthermore, the man mentioned in the case has previously stated that he has renounced his monastic life and is willing to cooperate with the police when summoned for verification. However, the Khanh Hoa Provincial Police have stated that they will conduct an investigation and review of the information related to the complaints reported on social media to ensure objectivity and transparency.
Initial investigations suggest that a dispute exists between the two parties concerning personal property and other private matters. These conflicts were subsequently publicized on social media through numerous posts, videos, and accusations exchanged between the parties. The incident quickly attracted significant public attention, leading to a flurry of conflicting comments and heated debates on online platforms.
Notably, numerous images, audio recordings, and videos have been widely shared as "evidence" related to the incident. However, to date, the authenticity of these materials has not been verified by authorities, and there has been no official conclusion from the investigation.
Regarding the identity of the person referred to as "Thich Nhuan Dat," information from the Vietnam Buddhist Association indicates that he was born in 1978 in Ninh Thuan (now part of Khanh Hoa province). During his monastic life, he was a disciple of Venerable Thich Quang Thua and practiced Buddhism from 1996 to 2000.
On December 3, 2025, this person went to Quan Am Pagoda (Khanh Hoa) to perform Buddhist rituals and express his wish to return to secular life. The Vietnam Buddhist Association subsequently confirmed that he was no longer a Buddhist monk from the time of his return to secular life.
The release of official information from authorities and the Church is considered necessary to help the public gain an objective perspective, avoiding misinterpretations or the spread of unverified rumors.
