The brilliant career of the male comedian
Tan Beo was born and raised in a family with many artistic traditions. His father is an ancient artist Tan Tai, who was once famous with the nickname "emperor of vinyl records". His mother is the artist Nhu Ngoc, she specialized in playing the famous prostitute on stage in the 60s.
In 1977, his family's singing troupe was handed over to the city's Department of Culture to manage. Tan Beo followed his parents to the Ben Tre reform group, then the Hau Song group. In 1981, when he was only 11 years old, Tan Beo was assigned his first role in life, the role of Tan Luc in the play Pham Cong Cuc Hoa.
Some time later, Tan Beo transferred to An Giang Van Cong troupe and then Kim Thanh group performed and became the main comedian of both these troupes. With Kim Thanh troupe, Tan Beo is considered as a name to sell tickets of the group during the tour in the Central region and the Mekong Delta.
In 1992, after more than 10 years of performing with singing troupes in the Mekong Delta, Tan Beo returned to perform in Ho Chi Minh City. He joined and became the main comedian of the Ho Chi Minh City Van Cong troupe, along with many popular actors such as Diep Lang, Minh Vuong, Le Thuy, Hoai Thanh.

In 1996, Cai Luong was no longer at its peak, Tan Beo and Tan Bo and comedian My Chi formed a comedy group called "My Chi", with successful skits such as Cai Bang Times, Dreaming of being a singer, pregnant women risk their lives, ... the group is loved by many domestic and foreign audiences and is dubbed "Three Swords Hop Bich". After the group "My Chi", Tan Beo also joined the comedy group Kim Ngoc and the Saigon Drama Theater. In 1998, Tan Beo and his younger brother Tan Bo formed a separate comedy group called "Tan Beo - Tan Bo".
In 2003, the program "Laughing Gala" conducted by Vietnam Television Station was first introduced to the public. In the first issues made in the southern area, Tan Beo and Tan Bo featured with the comedy skit Why Go to the Temple.
The play is about a young man (Tan Beo) who, because of his passion for gambling, has to go to the temple to sell incense to earn a living and also to avoid his relatives. In 2004, in the Golden Smile contest, comedy group Tan Beo - Tan Bo won the title as one of the 10 most popular comedy groups. This is a contest organized by the Department of Culture and Information of Ho Chi Minh City, the Theater Association and the HCMC Theater Newspaper to find the most successful comedians and groups. Participating in the contest were famous comedians such as Hong Van, Hoai Linh, Bao Chung... On January 1, 2009, comedy group Tan Beo - Tan Bo released the first musical comedy album after many years. performance, the album is divided into two parts including the group's hit skits and some songs performed by Tan Beo.
