In particular, the outstanding name that cannot fail to mention is Ta Dai Phan - the actress who plays the role of Guan Yin Bodhisattva to save suffering and save sentient beings.

The role of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva in Journey to the West in 1986 came to her as a fateful coincidence. Initially, when it was announced that Ta Dai Phan would take on the role of Guan Yin Bodhisattva, many people in the film production team disagreed because they thought that the actress was old and would not be suitable for the role. However, director Duong Khiet still firmly chose Ta Dai Phan to play the role because she had the opportunity to see her acting on a dramatic stage.
It is known that while Chairman Mao Zedong was hospitalized, the Hunan art troupe performed a play with the wish for a speedy recovery and Yang Jie was the director of that play. After seeing Ta Dai Phan play the role of Guan Yin, she was deeply impressed and even said that if she needed an actor to play Guan Yin in the future, she would definitely invite her. Indeed, exactly 10 years later, Ta Dai Phan was determined by the director to play this role.
After the broadcast, Ta Dai Phan's image of Avalokitesvara was considered to be appropriate and successful because she exuded a compassionate and compassionate aura with a face that was both serious and gentle. Ta Dai Phan's image was so successful that many people thought she was a living Bodhisattva when they happened to meet her in real life.
During the filming of the film Journey to the West in the countryside, many curious people came to see it. When the actress in the image of Guan Yin stepped out, many people mistakenly thought that the Bodhisattva was an epiphany, and all knelt down to worship her. Ta Dai Phan at that time panicked and said: "I'm not a Bodhisattva, I'm just an actor", making the whole film crew "bad crying and laughing".
At that time, when they saw her, the crew for some reason were all happy. Everyone joked that: "Meeting Guanyin Bodhisattva, above and below are happy". During the filming, the scenes with the character Guan Yin went smoothly. As long as Ta Dai Phan appeared in the scene, the bad weather also turned favorable. What's even more special is that for the whole film crew, only Ta Dai Phan's scenes only need one double to finish. The actors who participated in the same scene with "Buddha Buddha", also completed their work smoothly.
Until now, no actor has surpassed Ta Dai Phan's image of Avalokitesvara. She has become an icon in the hearts of many generations of viewers when referring to this image. She is also referred to by the Chinese press as the "evil bodhisattva". Ta Dai Phan shared that she is not a believer in religion in general and Buddhism in particular, but after completing the film, she gradually had faith in Buddha. Now, at the age of 76, she is still healthy, rosy, still participating in art activities with an optimistic and positive spirit. Part of that is thanks to her enlightenment and learning about Buddhism in the days following Journey to the West.
This lifetime role is also Ta Dai Phan's only role on the small screen. Since then, she has not received any more films, but only focused on the theater stage. Explaining her decision, Ta Dai Phan said that she wanted to keep the audience's imagination about the image of the Bodhisattva as glittering and mysterious as in the movie.

Although they have been married for more than 50 years, the love of Ta Dai Phan and his wife is still as salty and sweet as when they first fell in love.
