Quang Le said his parents were once told that "marriage will destroy them" but they still lived happily for decades. He himself chose to stay single because he couldn't stand anyone and no one could stand him.
In a recent conversation with singer Nhu Y, singer Quang Le unexpectedly shared an emotional family story revolving around fortune telling, love, marriage and loss. His revelations not only surprised listeners but also made many people rethink their outlook on life and how to view marriage today.
Quang Le began the story with a seemingly joking but completely true statement: "Everyone has their own beliefs, but I don't really believe in fortune telling. The proof is my parents." He recounted that when he was young, when his parents were in love and preparing to get married, they both went to see a fortune teller in Hue. The fortune teller at that time did not hesitate to say a chilling sentence: "The year of the Snake marrying the year of the Dog is a big taboo. If they get married, one will die."
The news shocked the whole family. Despite their worries, his parents still decided to get married. There was no grand wedding ceremony, no lavish wedding party, just two people believing in love, despite the terrible judgment of fate.
And the truth is that the fortune teller was right. But it was right after more than 30 years. "My father lived until he was 70 years old, then passed away. In fact, what the fortune teller said was right, but it was right very late. During those decades, my parents lived happily, raising their children to be good people. There was no passing due to karma as predicted in the past." â Quang Le shared.
The story seems superstitious but it becomes proof of a simple truth. Belief in love can overcome all prejudices, even fate. Although they were confused and afraid, the choice of Quang Le's parents showed the bravery of the previous generation. They did not let a judgment determine their future. They lived truthfully, loved truthfully and in the end, together they overcame the curse of fate.
After listening to Quang Le's sharing, singer Nhu Y also frankly spoke about her views on modern marriage: "I just understood why my parents rarely divorced in the past. They knew how to be patient and endure. But now, like me or Quang Le, no one can stand each other, so until now they are still single."
A harsh but true truth. Modern marriage has a lot of freedom, but because of that, it is also fragile. People value themselves, their ego, and their personal preferences more than sacrificing for others. A little conflict, an unpleasant word can end a whole relationship.
Without beating around the bush, Quang Le honestly admitted the reason why he hasn't been able to get married: "I'm used to living alone. I can go anywhere or do anything without having to tell anyone. Getting married means being controlled and having to change my lifestyle. And I can't stand it."
He added that because he is an artist and loved by the audience, he is treated kindly wherever he goes. Being pampered becomes a habit that is hard to break, leading to difficulty finding a suitable lover, not to mention a life partner. "My lover cannot pamper me like the audience or my friends. So I choose to live alone, free and easy-minded."
The story of Quang Le and Nhu Y is not simply a private story of an artist, but also clearly reflects a social reality. Marriage today is a choice, not a necessity. While the previous generation considered marriage an obligation, today's young people are willing to stay single, focusing on their careers and personal happiness. But one thing that has not changed is the desire to be loved and to live true to themselves.
The love story of Quang Le's parents is proof that fortune-telling cannot prevent a happy marriage if two people truly love each other and overcome all challenges together. As for Quang Le, a person who lives truthfully, loves truthfully and chooses to live true to his own self, he is an example for a generation of artists who dare to refuse marriage if it does not bring freedom and peace. Whether married or not, the important thing is that each person must live fully with their own choice.
