Quang Huy (The Bells): Leaving showbiz now happy with same-sex love in the US

More than 1 decade since The Bells disbanded, the female members have all had their own homes and become mothers, especially the male members who are still single, who have had happiness with same-sex partners in the guest country.

Singer Quang Huy - former member of The Bells was born in 1977, is Vietnamese-Chinese. He was one of the first three members of The Bells. The singer's group was considered one of the most successful bo.y and gir.l groups in the early 2000s.

The Bells group was formed on 24/12/1999 with the first 3 members all from ABC dance company: Mai Thanh, Minh Du and Quang Huy. At the beginning of their activity, the group impressed with the cute and vibrant Teen Pop style. After releasing two successful albums The Bells and The Bells Vol.2, The Bells temporarily ceased activities because Minh Du officially left the group at the en.d of March 2003.

In March 2005, The Bells continued to change members when Quang Huy left the group and Phuoc Huy – another member of Hoang Thong dance company – was chosen to replace him. With this new lineup, The Bells reaped many awards such as Golden Plum, Green Wave, ... especially resonated with the hit "Clouds And Mountains". Around the same time, The Bells were invited to Bangkok by Thailand's JSL television station to participate in a Hip Hop gameshow with Southeast Asian countries.

On August 20, 2008, The Bells officially disbanded after nearly 9 years of activity in the regret of many music lovers. The group's rare reunion was in late 2011, during a special Christmas program in Ho Chi Minh City.

Quang Huy is a veteran member and is considered an important "piece" of the early Bells. When he decided to leave the group, he went to Thailand to study diving and then switched to makeup. Currently, Quang Huy is attached to "lip powder" under the name Tommy L, as well as a freelance photographer in the US. After many years away from Vietnamese showbiz, in July 2014, Quang Huy unexpectedly held a same-sex wedding with her boyfriend after 9 years of love in the US.

It is known that Quang Huy's family is very supportive of him moving towards marriage. Quang Huy's partner is American and their marriage is legally recognized.

Quang Huy's partner is American, 10 years older than him, working in the IT field. It is known that Quang Huy and his boyfriend met when he was studying in Thailand: "We hung out together and got to know each other. I had the opportunity to take him to a few places so I was closer, more intimate. At that time, my English improved. I once asked him when we first met, if he understood what I meant, he honestly said he didn't understand anything, just felt my feelings for him."

Talking about his partner, Quang Huy shared: "I am a small person. When I first met him, I saw that people were much taller than me. Hangin.g out together, I thought this man was my ideal lover but I guess I wasn't their ideal person. I didn't expect us to understand each other, get along and love each other for so long."

In an interview with a Vietnamese media channel about his same-sex love, Quang Huy did not hesitate to reveal: "In terms of personality, he lives more meaningfully than foreigners I used to know. He was very loving and helpful to his family and friends. He was always thinking far ahead, always had plans for me, not just falling in love, going out or buying gifts."

Quang Huy said: "During Tet holidays, although he is not together, he always buys small gifts in advance, hiding them somewhere in the house. Then the day will come to call me to look for it. He was super romantic and cute when he took me to places I'd never been or asked me to do things I'd never done. He always asked me if I'd ever done this or that."

In contrast, the former member of The Bells is also a romantic. In the morning, the singer often leaves a bouquet of flowers by his bed for his partner or buys small gifts for his partner.

When asked by a reporter about the time he realized his true self, Quang Huy said that he was a person from a young ag.e, he shared very openly about being true to his sexuality: "I like girls but have more feelings for boys. People still say right or wrong, wrong or right on this issue. I wonder when people say homosexuality is sick. I read books, learned about my sexuality a lot. At that time, I saw that my teacher and his gay lover were extremely beautiful, treating each other extremely friendly. My teacher is also old and his romance is not what they say. Since then, I see that here is no longer a matter of right and wrong and lives more "open".

At the ag.e of 15, I began to fall in love. I felt the need to go find my boyfriend. My friends knew my true sexuality and I never hid it. No one ever asked me if I was gay and I said no. I always feel like I'm having fun."

Although no longer active and releasing music products, the former member of The Bells still works hard to do a good job behind the scenes to bring the audience the most polished and gorgeous artist image.
