Meritorious Artist Thai Son's full name is Tran Thai Son, born in 1983 in Hung Yen. Thai Son's path to the art of Cheo began in childhood. Although he was born into a family with non-artistic parents, Thai Son has an uncle (artist Xuan Dinh) and uncle-in-law (artist Xuan Theo) who are actors in the Cheo Troupe of the General Logistics Department (now the Theater). At that time, Thai Son's family was one of the earliest families to have a television in the village. Whatever Cheo tune, Cai Luong or folk song he liked, he immediately took out his notebook and wrote down the lyrics. Although he liked Cheo, Son was initially more attracted to Cai Luong. Therefore, after finishing high school, Son plans to register for the Cai Luong Class at the Ethnic Theater Department at Hanoi University of Theater and Cinema. He practiced some Southern rhythms on his own and took some training sessions. While studying for exams, Son went back and forth from school in the Mai Dich area and then to his uncle's house in Xuan Dinh.

However, Son's two uncles directed him to compete in rowing. Following the instructions of the two doctors, he registered with the desire to take the Cheo class. After that, Uncle Xuan Theo taught Son more Cheo dances and then took Son to entrust artist Tu Long, asking him to teach Son more.

So artist Tu Long became the first teacher to teach Son about acting. Then, on the day of the exam, Son gave up his wish to reform. And perhaps this is the first stepping stone to help Son pursue and put hope in the art of Cheo until now.

In 2002, Thai Son passed the exam and became a student of Cheo K22 class (Hanoi University of Theater and Cinema) headed by Ms. Thanh Tuyet. Thai Son is lucky that the school invited many great artists from Cheo village to guide role models for students, from Ms. Thanh Binh, Ms. Thanh Hoai, Ms. Thanh Tram, Mr. Vu Ngoc, Mr. Khac Tu...

Along with that was the guidance and training of two artists who are his uncles, especially artist Xuan Theo who wholeheartedly trained Thai Son to sing Cheo from his stuttering days, thanks to that, his voice was improved. Thai Son's singing has become much more mature.

Graduating in 2006, Thai Son has joined the Vietnam Cheo Theater since then. He has been on staff since 2009 and received the title of outstanding artist for his contributions to art and achievements at the unit.

Sticking with Cheo in a traditional art context that faces many difficulties in attracting audiences, Thai Son said he has never regretted his decision.

In recent years, along with Cheo acting, Thai Son has also been successful in comedy acting. With his charming acting skills, Thai Son is very suitable for sharp, cruel roles. He plays well with many famous artists such as Xuan Hinh, Thanh Thanh Hien, Hong Van, Trung Ruoi...

He won 2 Silver Medals for the role of the driver in "Collision of a Broken Boat" at the "First National Comedy Theater Festival" in Quang Ninh in 2011 and the role of Chief Ly in the play "Bac Le Temple Sacred" ( at the 2013 National Cheo Art Festival in Hai Phong).

In 2014, Thai Son received the Gold Medal for Young Theater Talent for his role as Mr. Han, an old rowing man who deeply misses the roles that have passed in his life and also the "model roles" in rowing art.

In 2019, Thai Son worked as an actor under the management of Hoa Duong entertainment company and achieved significant success. It is known that he has the same management company as Trung Ruoi.
