Meritorious Artist Ha Thuy: Who is the female Colonel who is about to be awarded the title of People's Artist, the teacher of a series of stars?

Meritorious Artist - Colonel Ha Thuy - She is known as the "midwife" of music stars. Ho Quynh Huong, Van Mai Huong, Huong Tram, Hoang Quyen, Phuong Anh, Phuong Thao... are all her students.

According to Decision 724/QD-CTN signed by President Vo Van Thuong on June 22, 2023, 77 artists were awarded the title of People's Artist. Among them, there is Colonel - Meritorious Artist Ha Thuy.

Meritorious Artist Ha Thuy was born in 1960 in Lao Cai town, Lao Cai province. At the age of 17, Ha Thuy was accepted into the Army Song and Dance Troupe in Lao Cai town. At the same time, Ha Thuy received admission notice to Hanoi University of Education but chose to pursue art.

Pursuing her passion, Meritorious Artist Ha Thuy was opposed by her family. Ha Thuy's father once declared that he would "disappear" if he followed this path. "At that time, I didn't think about anything, I just thought I wanted to go. I told my mother: Dad has already abandoned me, if she abandons me again, I will leave.

That is, it is like a heat stroke, love has no reason, only the heart is directed towards it. I just think I like it, regardless of whether it is successful or not," she confided in the program Narrative - VTV3.

After that, Meritorious Artist Ha Thuy passed the entrance exam to the Military Art Intermediate School. After graduating, she continued to study full-time majoring in Vocal Music - Hanoi Conservatory of Music.

In 1982, Ha Thuy won second prize in the professional solo competition organized by the Ministry of Culture and Sports. In 1983, he won the Gold Medal in the Light Music and Dance Competition in Hai Phong, and the Silver Medal in All-Army Solo Songs in 1985 and 1987.

The female artist can sing many types of music and performs everywhere. In 1992, Meritorious Artist Ha Thuy transferred to the Department of Music and Dance at the Military Art College to teach vocal music. 4 years later, the female artist won 3rd prize in the 1st Fall Chamber Solo Competition.

Since 2014, the female artist has been the Dean of the Vocal Department at the Military University of Culture and Arts and has acted as a vocal expert in the Sao Mai competition from 2000 to present. Currently, the female artist holds the military rank of Colonel and is the Commander of 2 Military Colleges of Culture and Arts in Ho Chi Minh City.

With the enthusiasm of a teacher, Colonel - Meritorious Artist Ha Thuy has mentored many generations of students, leaving a mark on the Vietnamese music market. There are many students of famous female artists, including: Ho Quynh Huong, Phuong Anh, Phuong Thao, Hoang Nghiep, Thai Thuy Linh, Ngoc Anh, Ngoc Khue, Minh Chuyen, Van Mai Huong, Hoang Quyen, Huong Tram...

Sharing about her professional journey, Meritorious Artist Ha Thuy admitted that she was happy when she was mentioned and appreciated by her students and colleagues. Because of that, she affirmed that "if I close my eyes and give up, I will still smile".

When asked about the process of training students, Meritorious Artist Ha Thuy considered it a mission. The female artist admitted that up until now, she had never chosen it, but it was a predestined relationship for people with common passions and dreams to meet. "I have never chosen my students. I have never asked to teach this or that person. There are many singers I want, but because they are studying with other instructors, I don't dare express my wishes," she confided further.

In society, Meritorious Artist Ha Thuy makes many people respect her for her career and talent, but at home, she is still a wife like many others.

"No matter how assertive I am on the outside, even how formidable I am in teaching, when I come home I am still a mother and a wife who knows how to take care of my home and make it peaceful.

The first thing is peace for myself and I think I am someone who adjusts very quickly. Away from the noise and bustle of life, family is the place that helps me calm down," she shared in the program Narrative.

According to the female artist, although she does not like to talk much about her home, she estimates that from the time she got married until now, it has maintained peace. The female guest revealed: "In art there is a lot of turmoil, both subjective and objective. If it exists, both must have a very slight but very drastic way of looking at and adjusting their personal lives. What should I do to gain trust?

According to Meritorious Artist Ha Thuy, each family will have its own relationships and interactions. She stated her opinion: "It took me 6 years to get married before giving birth to my first child. The process of striving and focusing on work must have my husband's consent. Why don't stars today get married early? Because if a woman does many things at the same time, it will have a huge impact. I've had that concept since my time."

At the same time, she is proud that her life is stable now, her husband is working at the National Academy of Music, and her children are filial and successful. "It's a family that I rarely have to think about and worry too much about. If I go on a business trip, I still feel secure," she confided.
