People's Representative Le Dung: The only "singing woman" worthy of the title Diva according to My Linh's words

Despite being gone for more than 20 years, People's Artist Le Dung is still a musical monument in the hearts of the public. Talent and diversity are the words when it comes to the late artist. According to My Linh, 1 of the 2 people who deserves the most praise is Le Dung.

Le Dung started singing at the age of 8, when he was discovered by musician Duc Huyen and brought into Ha Long Children's Club, touring and recording at the Voice of Vietnam. Le Dung was small in stature that year and started her professional singing career at the age of 17, became a singer at the age of 33 and was awarded the National People's Committee at the age of 42.

Having been dead for more than 20 years, Le Dung is still among the few singers whose technical level is close to perfection. Strangely, she entered the Hanoi Conservatory of Music (now the Vietnam National Academy of Music) quite late, when she was 26 years old and did not go to the Soviet Union until the age of 35 to study graduate school at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory. Music is a specific discipline where the earlier the training, the more ripe the achievement. In the history of world music, not many singers trained as late as Le Dung but the technique still reached the standard.

Le Dung has a splendid voice, also known as "pure gold". In her lifetime, she was always serious and artistic willing, had a rich soul: the most expressive, the most vibrant, but also very sensitive, easy to suffer. Therefore, Le Dung sings well is undoubted, but in addition to technique, she also sings internally, so each word is very soulful and emotional.

"The songs that Le Dung has sung successfully, those who follow do not dare to sing, because Dung has created an indelible impression in the hearts of listeners. Of course, singers are now well-trained such as Pham Thuy Dung and Pham Thu Ha,... a very good internal strength and musical aesthetic plus the complement of the sound from the remixes creates a new mark that is very effective for listeners to enrich, even more effective, but listeners still want to listen with memories and every time I listen to Le Dung's recordings again, it is still creepy", writer Tran Thi Thi shared.

Le Dung sings in many genres, from opera, semi-classical, pre-war, red music to light music. She conquered from the public to the professional; Not only Vietnamese people are fascinated, but many times the embassies invite her to sing in art meetings and exchanges.

In fact, it is difficult to call Le Dung a true opera singer when she has never fully performed an operatic role on stage. But what Le Dung left behind, from stereotypical recordings – especially the Aria A Sao: Why don't you think it goes down in music history; The art of releasing Vietnamese words in opera to professional manners and attitudes are all precious heritages.

Le Dung laid the first bricks for the foundations of classical music in Vietnam when everything was very primitive.

Le Dung also pioneered recitan (solo performances) – a type of solo concert on a smaller scale than concerts, from recitan at the Soviet Embassy to a solo night at Hanoi Opera House in 1992 with 21 savant songs. That recitan night also enters the narratives of music learners of later generations, of "The Woman Who Sings" with an extraordinary throat and breath.

Despite his special position in opera and at the forefront of red and pre-war music, Le Dung may not have reached the same heights when singing light music. Listen to her sing "Baby Hanoi Street", Rain on the empty sea, Send the wind to the clouds of a thousand flying... Despite a lot of moderation, the classic substance remains. Perhaps because of that, the light music Le Dung recorded is impeccable, but it is difficult for the audience to remember her in this genre.

One of those true people's artists is Le Dung, who is known as "the leading bird of classical music, Vietnamese chamber music". After more than 20 years of death, People's Artist Le Dung has truly become a music legend with a rare voice of Vietnamese music. Her career and talent have a profound influence on Vietnamese audiences, always being an example for all generations of juniors to follow.

Singer My Linh, when asked about the title Diva, answered firmly: "In Vietnam, if there is a Diva, only two people deserve it. These are People's People Le Dung and Thanh Lam."

My Linh's judgment is completely grounded and received a lot of agreement from music fans. If Thanh Lam is a mezzo-soprano with a great influence on light music, People's Artist Le Dung is the leading soprano in classical music and chamber music in Vietnam.

In another aspect, only People's Artist Le Dung has enough weight, technique and influence to join the first singer Thai Thanh to create a parallel of two legendary soprano voices - one classical, one new music.

Le Dung was born and raised in Ha Long, a land that is said to have a special soil and climate when producing a lot of quality voices for Vietnamese music.

The artist added: "The artist always has to be creative, must have her own characteristics, but I still want to preserve the knowledge that she is extremely dedicated to giving. Songs like The People of Hanoi, Song of Hope... To this day I still sing the way she taught. And to this day, I still apply the way she teaches to her students."
