Contacting Nong Thuy Hang, the queen said that she was contacted by the national director of Miss Friendship International Vietnam and given the opportunity to "fight" at Miss Friendship International 2023.

The queen added that because the pageant has a Thai president and will be held in October in China, in addition to English, she is trying to improve Chinese and Thai to be ready to enter the race to the top of Miss Friendship International 2023.

Answering a question about being the reigning Miss Vietnam Peoples but choosing to "fight" in a beauty arena outside the Big6 (6 biggest Miss pageants in the world), Nong Thuy Hang expressed: "For me, there is no big or small pageant. All beauty arenas share the same mission of celebrating the beauty of women and conveying humane and meaningful messages to the community."

Nong Thuy Hang was born in 1999 in Ha Giang, is from the Tay ethnic group. She was crowned Miss Vietnam Peoples in July 2022. After being crowned, the beauty of Ha Giang origin once caused regret when she could not participate in the Miss Earth 2022 contest. Instead, runner-up Thach Thu Thao was given the opportunity to represent Vietnam in Miss Earth 2022 by the Miss Vietnam Peoples Organizing Committee. In 2023, the queen will "miss out" with this international beauty arena again when Miss Earth Vietnam 2023 is held to find representatives to compete in Miss Earth 2023.
