The Chagee milk tea brand is facing a strong wave of protests in Vietnam after users discovered that its app displayed a map image with suspicious details related to the "cow tongue line". The incident immediately created a wave of boycotts on social networks.

Specifically, on the evening of March 14, a series of posts on social media platforms called for a boycott of the Chagee milk tea brand. Because the incident is directly related to the issue of national sovereignty.

Immediately after the information spread, the official homepage of Chagee Vietnam received a series of opposing comments, demanding a clear explanation from the brand. Posts on the homepage also received thousands of angry comments.

Many celebrities are also extremely upset with the rampant behavior of Chagee Vietnam. Among them, actress Ngoc Lan is one of the first artists to express this harshness to the brand. She commented directly on a post on Chagee Vietnam's tiktok channel. Ngoc Lan angrily wrote: "I know how to make milk tea". Showing that she doesn't need to drink at Chagee, she can still drink it elsewhere.

In addition to Ngoc Lan, male singer Du Thien also spoke out indignantly, expressing his opinion that Vietnam has no shortage of delicious milk tea brands, so there is no need to drink at Chagee, to preserve national pride. Du Thien shared: "Vietnam has no shortage of delicious coffee and milk tea, gentlemen. Cong, Phuc Long, Trung Nguyen,... but why do we have to sneak into Cha Ge? Doing business in Vietnam without respecting Vietnam means they don't respect Vietnamese customers. In response to fierce opposition from the online community, Chagee Vietnam has removed the app from the Google Play Store and App Store. However, this move has not lessened the criticism, as up to now, the brand has not given any official response to the incident.

However, with some roaming tricks, using APK files, it is still possible to install the APAC version of the Chagee app on your phone. Previously, it was noted that the images of the "cow tongue line" on the Chagee app login screen were real. This software is also available for users in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

After the incident, the F&B chain has yet to make an official response. On Chagee's Facebook page, the amount of anger under the post has increased dramatically, becoming the majority. Many users reacted strongly, demanding a boycott of the milk tea chain, even though they have not opened any stores in Vietnam.

Chagee, known in Chinese as Bawang Teaji, is a high-end milk tea chain founded in 2017 in Shanghai by founder Zhang Junjie. The brand rapidly expanded and by 2024 operated more than 5,000 stores across East Asia.
