Musician Ngo Thuy Mien, whose real name is Ngo Quang Binh, was born on September 26, 1948 in Hai Phong, and is the second child in a family of seven children.

His family opened a bookstore named Thanh Binh in Hai Phong city, later moved to Phan Dinh Phung street (now Nguyen Dinh Chieu street) when he settled in Saigon. Because of this, he had the opportunity to grow up with books, poetry - the romance in him also arose from that.

In the magnificent Saigon, he studied at Nguyen Trai High School, and then the Saigon University of Science. During the 1960s, he studied violin with Professor Do The Phiet, and French music with Professor Hung Lan at the Saigon National School of Music.

From 1970 to 1975, Ngo Thuy Mien worked as an air traffic controller at Tan Son Nhat airport. Around this same time, he was Head of the Rotating Band at Army Radio. In 1963, he started writing music.

He composed the first love song called "This afternoon without you" completed in February 1965. At that time, the song was warmly received by students and students.

It is known that this song was written by a 17-year-old teenager for the beautiful Doan Thanh Van - the daughter of the most famous actor Doan Thanh Mau in Saigon in the 1960s.

Ngo Thuy Mien is a big fan of pre-war music, so his early songs often have the same color as his senior class of musicians. However, after a series of popular poems Nguyen Sa, Ngo Thuy Mien gradually formed her own style.
