Miss Supranational: Indonesia was crowned, Kim Duyen said the reason Lydie Vu was empty-handed

At dawn on July 7 (Vietnam time), the final night of Miss Supranational 2024 officially took place in Poland. More than 60 contestants competed to conquer the highest position at the contest.

Appearing in the opening, Lydie Vu was the last contestant to step out on stage. She introduced herself and was confident on the catwalk. Coming to the National Costume contest, Lydie Vu chose brocade costumes, with the desire to introduce Vietnamese culture to friends around the world.

However, Lydie Vu did not make it to the top 24 overall.

She didn't even win the Supra Fan Vote sub-prize to receive a special ticket to the top 12 finalists.

Thus, Lydie Vu officially left Miss Supranational 2024 without a victory.

Lydie Vu's stop caused the 6-year "intop" chain of the Vietnamese sash strip at Miss Supranational to be broken. Over the years, Vietnam has always reached the top in the finals of this contest.

This information made Vietnamese fans suddenly mixed with disappointment.

The reason is that before that, the beautiful Lydie Vu had a pretty good performance. She is also predicted by international beauty websites to enter impressive positions in the finals.

As a judge of the contest, Kim Duyen said that after the final, she visited and encouraged Lydie Vu. This is the first time the two Vietnamese beauties have talked after completing their roles as judges and contestants of Miss Supranational 2024.

Kim Duyen said that all Miss Supranational and Mister Supranational 2024 contestants are not allowed to have contact with the judges. When interviewing media units, Kim Duyen also repeatedly asked for permission not to talk about the two Vietnamese contestants to maintain objectivity when marking the exam.

The 29-year-old beauty said that she recognized and appreciated Lydie Vu's efforts in the nearly two-week exam journey in Poland. In the role of judge, she assessed Lydie as a contestant with good energy, initiative and friendliness in communication. In the closed interview round, the story of overcoming health obstacles and the effort when having the opportunity to participate in Miss Supranational 2024 of Lydie made her and the judges emotional.

"According to my assessment when judging, Lydie Vu deserves to be in the top 24 finalists. I also see many reputable beauty websites ranking Vietnamese contestants in the top 24 on the prediction tables. However, the actual results in the final are converted from the scores of the prestigious jury, the evaluation of the organizers, the crew from the beginning of the contest, the semi-finals, and the closed interview round. Our journey is more important than the destination, I think Vietnamese beauty fans are still proud of what Lydie has done at the contest and will always support her," Kim Duyen said.

Returning to the contest, the beauty Harashta Haifa Zahra from Indonesia has become the owner of the Miss Supranational 2024 crown.

Harashta Haifa Zahra is 1.73 m tall, considered a prominent contestant in Asia. Before the final, she won the Talented Beauty Award. She is studying at Bandung Institute of Technology, majoring in Environmental Engineering. She also implements a project for the community "Mother of Nature" to reduce waste and sanitation and food safety in the city where she lives.

The beauty burst into tears the moment her name was announced after more than three hours of performances. Reigning Miss Andrea Aguilera - Ecuadorian beauty - gave her the crown.

The 1st runner-up title belongs to a contestant from the United States - Jenna Dykstra, the 2nd runner-up is a Czech beauty - Justyna Zednikova. The other two in the top 5 are Curacao, Brazil, respectively. In addition to the runners-up, the top 12 also includes representatives of India, Finland, Thailand, Puerto Rico, South Africa, and the Philippines.

The final includes evening dress performances, national costumes, swimsuits and Q&A. The judges selected the top 25, 12 and five contestants in turn before announcing the winners.

Miss Supranational is in the top 6 popular and interested international contests, besides Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss International, Miss Earth and Miss Grand International.

Miss Supranational was first held in 2009. The contest is held annually by the World Beauty Association S.A (WBA), headquartered in Panama. Many Vietnamese contestants have gone to the contest and achieved a number of outstanding achievements, including: Nguyen Thu May - 3rd runner-up in 2011, Kim Duyen - 2nd runner-up in 2022, Dang Thanh Ngan - 4th runner-up in 2023.
