Artist Minh Nhi's real name is Truong Hung Minh, born in 1964. The stage name Minh Nhi comes from his petite appearance and from his playful roles on stage.

He was born and raised in Sa Dec town, Dong Thap in a large family. In high school, Minh Nhi studied very well. He won the first prize in grade 9 literature at the provincial competition for excellent students in literature. He once dreamed of taking the entrance exam to the Faculty of Literature at the University, but according to his family's wishes, he took the Medical University exam and only missed half a point.

While waiting for the re-examination, the School of Dramatic Arts 2 enrolled, he registered and passed the directing department. To have money to cover living expenses, he and his classmates, the late director Tran Canh Don, artists Kim Loan, and Minh Phuong founded a comedy group called "The Hedgehog".

Although he is only in 3rd year, but thanks to his acting ability and impressive appearance, Minh Nhi is constantly invited to act in movies.

Graduated from the Department of Directing at School of Dramatic Arts 2 with an excellent degree, Minh Nhi was kept at the school by teacher Xuan Phuc. For the first 3 years, he worked as an assistant lecturer for artist Cong Ninh, then was appointed as an official lecturer, teaching the subject of Performance Engineering.

In addition to teaching, artist Minh Nhi is also extremely expensive at performing both domestically and abroad.

In 1994, when comedy flourished, he and artist Huu Chau were a duet duo that stormed all stages of the country. Twice artist Minh Nhi was awarded the Golden Mai Award in 1998 and 1999. He also received many medals in his acting career.

However, at the peak of his career, artist Minh Nhi twice encountered an accident, almost destroying the career he had built before.

In 2001, he and artist Quoc Thao collaborated with Children's House in District 1, opening the theater stage Tran Cao Van. However, the stage had only been in operation for nearly a month, when the People's Committee of District 1 asked to stop operating on the grounds that the children's house did not have the function and power to sign an economic contract.

At that time, artists Minh Nhi and Quoc Thao lost a large amount of money. It was a huge fortune, because artist Minh Nhi himself, to build the stage, he had to mortgage his parents' house and sell his whole house to pay off debt when the project broke down.

In early 2004, artist Minh Nhi went to the US to tour and "arbitrarily" stayed in the US without asking permission from the College of Theater and Cinema, where he was working. Therefore, he was issued a disciplinary decision by the school administration, forced to quit his job in absentia.

It is known that during his time in the US, Minh Nhi toured and filmed videos for some Vietnamese music centers here.

Also during this time, he met an admirer of him, a banker working in California and quickly got married.

More than a year later, artist Minh Nhi and his wife returned home. However, because of this incident, his license to perform was revoked for 6 months. Recalling this event, artist Minh Nhi once admitted: "It was the most crisis period in my life. After those 6 months, I almost died over and over again, completely changing my appearance as well as my person. ".

The person who brought back artist Minh Nhi was an outsider of showbiz and was affectionately called Mr. Hai Hoang by him. It was this person who made the dossier and sent it to the Ministry of Culture and Performance Department to apply for a license for Minh Nhi to perform again until now.

No wife, adoption, want to open a private school

Step by step into the profession with a salary of 15,000 VND, when famous, artist Minh Nhi received a high salary. At the peak of his career, one day, he could make 2.5 gold trees. Because making money is so easy, Minh Nhi also rushes to play, so any money earned will "fly" away quickly.

He admits that the past was the biggest mistake in his life. And that is also the thing that makes him regret the most about his impulsive youth.

However, he believes that the Patriarch who took this one also gave the other. As it is now, he is anonymous, hungry, and despised, he will surely be sad and regret a lot, but when it comes to his name, his colleagues and the audience are still extremely respectful. For him, that is very satisfying.

Artist Minh Nhi is also famous for being a filial son. Only close colleagues know, he is very burdened with his family. He takes care of all the brothers and sisters in the house.

But, what made him regret as much as the past was that when he was famous, before he could give his father a prosperous life, he passed away. When he became more famous, his mother died.

At the age of U60, artist Minh Nhi has no wife and no biological children. When talking about this, he said that not having a biological child is a blessing. He has an adopted son, young actor Minh. He adopted the boy at the age of 15. Because he did not have a biological child, so much love, he poured all of it into his adopted child.

According to comedian Minh Nhi, the adopted son is very obedient, polite, understanding, behaves before and after and follows him because of his passion for acting since childhood. His biggest wish for his adopted son is for him to grow up to live as he wishes.

As for himself, he said: "I hope the money is enough to spend, don't be in debt. I hope the stage is bright, the students are crowded. I also hope I have health to work, every day I come home from work, Seeing my son happy, not sad. Every day that goes by, for me, it's normal and regular, that's enough."

Not only feeling extremely satisfied with his adopted son, with his current life, artist Minh Nhi is also happy because he still has a job, is loved by the audience and above all is devoted to pedagogy - training young actors for the country's art scene.

He currently owns the Minh Nhi theater stage, both training and performing. This job also gives him a relatively stable source of income. He cherishes and wishes to expand his training center into a private professional art school.
