The versatility of the witty man

Mac Can artist real name Le Trung Can, born in 1945 in Tien Giang. According to his mother, he was born on a rainy night, on his father's small "circus" singing boat, known by the stage name Charge Lo - Tran.

Born in a family with a father who is passionate about theater arts, his mother is of Burmese and Chinese descent, so he was also gifted from a young age.

When he was eight years old, his father taught him his first magic tricks. I don't know if the talent is innate or not, but every time a boat comes to the village, he is called "a child clown".

During his childhood, he, along with an older brother and a younger sister, roamed, up and down the river, touring from the West to the Southeast, performing "Circus", selling stickers and doing magic tricks.

When I was 12-13 years old, I just started learning letters, but I didn't know what grade to study. After 1975, he began to be invited to act in films.

The first role in the movie "Song is not just a musical note". Then played the role of a bandit in the movie "Old Grandpa". After that, Mr. Mac started acting in comedies and commercials.

Talking about Mac Can's career, it can be said that he is very diverse in career. He used to participate in many fields: writing, acting, screenwriting, magic, comedy... Mac Can also wrote many books such as: Three thousand and one nights, Devil with the mallow and the god of death. , Knife throwing board...

The films he has participated in are: The upside-down card game, Tay Do beauty, Foreign land, Vietnamese fairy tales, Under the flag of great justice, Horses of the South... In 1997, he made his mark with the role of Uncle Ba Phi. in the TV series Southern Land.

Thanks to his great contribution to the cause, in 2005, artist Mac Can received the A Prize of the Vietnam Writers Association's novel contest (Knife-Throwing Plank).

Joyful optimism and life in a 10m2 motel

Artist Mac Can, before he fell ill, still wrote books, wrote newspapers and even participated in movies to earn a living to take care of himself.

But over time, he fell ill and was confined to a wheelchair. Fortunately, artist Mac Can has his wife Duong Thi Mai to take care of. Mrs. Mai said: "The family has enough sons and daughters, but the deceased son can also live with his daughter-in-law. However, because he (artist Mac Can) is in a wheelchair, it is difficult to walk and cannot climb floors. Therefore, they decided to rent an inn with an area of 15m2".

Mrs. Mai also said that his health is now sick and he can't do anything, he has to take medicine every day, so it's very expensive. Even though life was difficult, they still overcome difficulties together.

The spirit of artist Mac Can is still extremely comfortable. "Anywhere is fine as long as it's fun. My life is comfortable like this. I don't want to bother anyone." He also said that if you rent a house, if you don't like it, you will move to another place to change it.

Although he is so optimistic, the reality is that artist Mac Quan lives in the days of severe illness. He had to fight with a stomach bleeding disease. When he could walk on his own, he took care of himself, but now he depends on Mai for everything.

Knowing his situation, many famous people in the South also donated to help the veteran male artist.

In September 2020, after the image of veteran artist Mac Can being hospitalized with stomach ulcers spread on social networks, many artists came to visit and partially support the cost of treatment as well. like helping the veteran actor make a living.

MC Tran Thanh also personally went to the inn of artist Mac Can to encourage and visit the situation. Male MC also personally donated 150 million VND to artist Mac Can. During the meeting with Tran Thanh, artist Mac Can expressed optimism and joy, touching many audiences.

Or actor Phi Phung's group sent some money to support him with food and medicine costs. She shared with the reporter, "This money was raised by me and the group as well as the money earned through YouTube by the members."

Live and die with acting

At the age of 76, despite his poor health, artist Mac Can was still on the set when he participated in the horror film Ghost Story near home. The male artist said that going to the movies helped his spirit to relax and recover quickly.

According to the film crew, the time to make the film was in March 2021, on the terrace of an old apartment building in Ho Chi Minh City. To ensure the health of the male artist, the crew always sends people to take care of him. Although the hot weather sometimes reaches 42 degrees Celsius, Mac Can still does not feel tired or tired. On the contrary, he also encouraged the crew as well as made jokes to tease people.

Still with a humorous and witty way of talking in each answer, artist Mac Can brought laughter to the crew members. Asked if it was hard for him to film, the male artist smiled kindly and replied: "The first time I was able to act in a horror film, I liked it very much. Very diligent, I didn't sleep at night but still dreamed of my role. Invest in the movie to the point of pulling out two teeth, when the film wins an award, I will reattach it".

Mac Can confided that going to film made him happier and healthier. The male artist said: "Going to film "yes", why not go. As long as you are alive, you will still act in movies. But having a job makes you feel healthier, sitting in one place rheumatism is more painful. I can't walk, but I sit in a room imagining it, it's so miserable. I have to go out, see my friends, see more things to be less sick."

Sometimes Mac Can was tired and had difficulty walking, but when he started filming, he was very alert. At the age of 76, the male artist still remembers his lines well. However, he did not memorize the script but was interpreted by a crew member and then re-enacted in everyday language.
