Lai Van Sam, Thanh Bach - 2 MCs "old man": Bitter, sorry for returning home for many years, no one needs it

Lai Van Sam and Thanh Bach are both veteran MCs, making great contributions to the entertainment and television industry in Vietnam.

Although each person holds a different position in the North and the South, they are all big MC names with national stature, coverage throughout the country, and are respected by many generations of juniors.

In particular, they all studied abroad from Russia and are two pioneer MCs, leading in the field of Vietnamese television gameshow since the beginning, laying the first foundation bricks.

Although talented and loved by many people, both Lai Van Sam and Thanh Bach went through a difficult time after studying abroad.

Lai Van Sam: 12 years back home, no one accepted it

MC Lai Van Sam studied abroad in Russia for many years. In 1981, he returned to the country for the first time when he was only 24 years old.

Like many other young people, Lai Van Sam had to apply for a job, but he did not have the opportunity to recruit and interview like now. This made Lai Van Sam unable to find a job and had to return to Russia.

After 6 years, Lai Van Sam returned home for the second time and was eager to find a job, but was disappointed because there was no place to accept it. He bitterly said:

"I studied at university for 6 years in Russia, but when I returned, I was not assigned a job. There was no opportunity for me to apply for a job in the country, so I had to return to Russia to work.

In 1987, I returned to my country. I was 30 years old then. After 12 years in Russia, I still have not been accepted anywhere. I'm extremely sorry."

After a long wait, Lai Van Sam was introduced by a friend to an agency that needed to recruit people who knew Russian. He confided:

"I was very eager, just looking forward to getting into the state payroll. At that time, if I couldn't get on the payroll, I would just throw it away."

When Lai Van Sam arrived at that office, an elderly man received him. This man turned on Hoa Sen (a kind of radio station) and asked him to translate the Russian news program that was broadcasting directly.

Lai Van Sam was very happy because he could practice his skills right away. For him at that time, translating a 30-minute news report was normal. He sat down to translate but was only afraid of making mistakes, afraid of breaking politics, so he was quite worried.

After translating, the man told Lai Van Sam to go home. When he went down to the yard, the other friend said straight to his face: "You are so stupid, why don't you tell him a joke. He doesn't know Russian".

However, not long after, MC Lai Van Sam also quit his job at this agency and had to go to Dong Xuan market to help sell goods to his mother-in-law for a year. Only later did he have the opportunity to enter Vietnam Television and promote his ability.

Thanh Bach: 5 years back home no one needs

Like Lai Van Sam, MC Thanh Bach also studied abroad in Russia and has an even more advantage when he majored in MC variety at the university of theater arts.

Thanh Bach studied in Russia for a total of 6 years, including 5 years of university and 1 year of preparatory work. Before that, he studied for another year in the country.

After studying in Russia, Thanh Bach returned home with a baggage full of knowledge and ambition, the desire to bring all that he learned into his work as a stage MC.

However, after 5 years back home, he had to bitterly realize: "No one needs me. No matter where I go to work, people don't accept me, I can't even sing Russian.

I can't even apply to be a referral. It is said that a m.oney dispenser also came up to introduce the program and the performances. No one needs an MC like me."

Rejected in all places, MC Thanh Bach was at an impasse, not knowing what to do to live. Fortunately, the program "Happy Notes" appeared as a way to let people know all his variety abilities. I said:

"I hosted that show but put in all the variety skills I had like singing, dancing, acting.

I loved that show so much and it was successful because of the music for the audience. That's something that the original overseas version of the show didn't have, but I thought of adding it."

It was this program that helped MC Thanh Bach win the Golden Plum a.ward. After that, he worked on the program Small Story, which was also followed by Golden Mai. Since then, Thanh Bach has become a big name in the MC village, leading a series of TV shows.
