Although he went to many doctors, doctors only diagnosed him with degenerative spinal disease without finding a specific cause. The strange disease also causes the male actor to have a stiff tongue and less flexible limbs.

With his health and spirit deteriorating, La Hao Giai announced that he would quit filming to focus on treatment. The actor must use a wheelchair, wear a fixed neck brace and actively practice physical therapy. Thanks to his wife's optimistic spirit and close care, his condition has gradually improved over the past few years.

The annual medical treatment amount of more than 1 million Hong Kong dollars (about more than 3 billion VND) is paid by the actor himself.
