Kai Ding is famous for a series of cult compositions that attract a large number of fans. But there was a time when Kai struggled with negative comments about his sexuality.
Kai Dinh (real name Dinh Le Hoang Vy, born 17 October 1992) is a Vietnamese musician, music producer and singer.
Kai Dinh graduated with a degree in International Business Administration from Nottingham Trent University in the UK. When he returned home, besides finding himself a stable job, he turned to music to satisfy his passion for music.
Kai Ding started composing music at the age of 13. As a young singer, he became known to the audience when he participated in the program Vietnamese Song of the Year from 2011-2015. Kai Dinh's song "End of the Road" won the "Music Producers Council's Vote" award at the 2012 Gala night of Vietnamese Song program, Kai Dinh won the award "Song voted by the Music Producers Council gala in 2012", "The singer performs effectively", "The song is voted by the audience",...
Kai says most of his compositions rely on inspiration and are highly personal. Besides composing hit songs, Kai Dinh is always exploring and teaching himself guitar and piano.
In December 2013 released their first successful single album Lonely Globe. Kai's most popular song is Nhu Cat â a duet with Ta Quang Thang, often used in children's singing competitions. After small productions, Kai Dinh started focusing on writing music in early 2015, after deciding to take a break from the business.
Kai Ding is the music producer for ST.319. His songs all have huge views and high virality. Recently, he accused Nam Em of taking the song "I Love Coming Here", which he sold exclusively to Fairy Hair to perform at ticket shows. This outraged netizens and criticized Nam Em. Although she apologized, many musicians such as Hoang Dung, Hua Kim Tuyen or Andiez and netizens disagreed.
On May 8, during the Vietnamese Song live show, Kai Dinh's song "Listen" was perfectly performed by singer To Minh Duc and left a good impression. This is the song that was composed when Kai Ding was 17 years old. At that time, the musician composed to mark a time of many events and turning points in his life.
Kai Ding is famous for many popular compositions such as: There You Wait, The Saddest Thing, Brilliant May, Call Your Name, People Say, ... These songs helped Kai attract a large number of fans, especially young ones. Not only individual musicians, the faces performing the above songs are also names with a stable fan base at the moment.
Referring to Calling Your Name, Kai Ding said that from the early days he worked extremely well with singer Min. The two also knew each other before but did not have the charm to collaborate musically. He thinks Min's voice is suitable for pure, gentle and cute lyrics.
Musicians Kai Ding and Min are a good couple but have some disagreements, so he once said, "I think the most important thing is to make a song that is the most true to me and the most true song.
Just think, I'm the one who wrote the song and I don't feel like I agree with the production of the song, how can the audience sympathize with that song?"
He wanted to protect his child, even thought about paying Min's royalties back and making sure to write another song for the singer. But after a week of thought, Min agrees to use Kai's proposed mix, and it's exactly right. Therefore, Min's 2 hit songs "Yes You Wait" and "Call My Name" are Kai Ding's compositions.
Despite being active in the music industry for a long time, singer-songwriter Kai Dinh is still not immune to speculation and gossip about his sexuality.
Kai Ding's true gender is a girl. But with his tomboy dress and hair, everyone mistakenly thought Kai Ding was a boy, which sparked a lot of discussion. There is currently no specific information about Kai Ding's actual transgenderism. However, many people believe that the singer pursues a tomboy style, not really transgender.
In his lyrics, Kai Ding addressed himself as "you" (Must Have You, Don't Leave Me) and also addressed himself as "you" (The Saddest Thing) which made many viewers curious about Kai's sexuality.
Appearing on a talk show, Kai Ding also shared his thoughts around this issue. Being talked about had also made Kai uncomfortable.
When "reluctantly" became a topic of discussion about sexuality, Kai Ding shared: "There was a period when I was a little young when I went out on the street, who talked about those things was annoying. Generally because I've always had a dislike for the outside world, but I don't show it."
"After that, I was happy too. People commented so I went in and read it and laughed. So far I don't care much, I find it a bit useless. But by the time I think about it, I feel like I'm an adult, I'm less "young." I don't read those comments anymore," Kai added.
