On June 1 (US time), the trial of the case between actor Johnny Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard ended, when the seven-member jury decided the victory belonged to the movie actor.
In this trial, Depp sued his ex-wife for defamation. The lawsuit revolves around an article Heard wrote in the Washington Post in 2018, which implied that Depp was a domestic abuser.
For Heard's side, the defense team sought to prove that she suffered a serious setback both financially and professionally after Depp's attorney Adam Waldman accused her of fabricating the 2020 abuse story. .
After weeks of trial, the jury found that Heard had smeared Depp and declared the actor the winner. The court also ruled that Depp was awarded a total of $15 million in damages from Heard.
Having just closed the case with Amber Heard, Johnny Depp is about to appear in court on charges of assaulting a crew member.
According to Fox News, Johnny Depp is scheduled to appear in court in Los Angeles, USA on July 25 for allegedly hitting a staff member on the set of City of Lies. The court summons clearly states: "The actor can testify and defend himself."
Gregg Brooks - who filed a lawsuit against Depp in July 2018 - testified that in a fit of rage, the Hollywood actor punched him twice in the left ribs. Depp's violent actions are said to be witnessed by the film crew.
The list of witnesses named by Brooks includes Christi Debrowski - Johnny Depp's sister, bodyguard Sean Bett, Waldman and business manager Ed White. All of these characters testified for Depp in a defamation lawsuit in Fairfax, Virginia.
The impulse occurred in April 2017. At that time, the City of Lies film crew had to complete a scene before 11pm due to location permit restrictions. Brooks, as the point manager, is responsible for reporting this. The whole crew obeyed, Depp did not.
In the lawsuit, Brooks also testified that Depp scolded and shouted at him: "Who are you? You have no right to tell me what to do." The male employee said he tried to calm down to explain the problem but to no avail. He accused the actor of making it difficult for him.
"The Black Mass actor was supposed to give Brooks $100,000 if the employee dared to hit him in the face. Brooks refused, then bodyguards dragged Depp away from the scene," Fox News reported.
Depp previously admitted to punishing Brooks for shouting at a homeless woman who stood in his way during a shooting outside the Barclays hotel in Los Angeles, but denied hitting the male employee.
Recently, Johnny Depp also issued a warning about social media scams. Depp said many people are taking advantage of his lawsuit and reputation to profit after the defamation trial.
"I was informed that there are accounts posing as me or my partner. I don't have any sub-accounts on any platform. These are the only sites operated by me and my team. All people should be cautious. My team is working to resolve this issue. Thank you. Love and respect for you," the actor announced.
