Miss Universe Vietnam 2023 1st Runner-up - Huong Ly was suddenly accused by an account of having an ambiguous love relationship with the contest's chairman - Mr. Valentin Tran. Immediately, the owner spoke up to confront her directly, clarifying everything.

On the evening of September 21, a social media account specializing in "exposes of artists" DN (with tens of thousands of followers) claimed that Huong Ly was having an affair with the president of Miss Universe Vietnam and was being cleared to be crowned Miss Universe Vietnam next year.

The noise broke out after Mr. Valentin Tran - Chairman of MUV - praised Huong Ly's appearance and called on her to participate in the Miss Universe Vietnam 2025 contest. After that, this account continued to post that Huong Ly was supported to compete in Miss Universe Vietnam 2023 and won the first runner-up prize. The company also affirmed that Huong Ly was "given a designer bag by a married man, part of a million-dollar ring".

Specifically, this DN account wrote: "You hold the copyright, and I'm having an affair with you and am the first runner-up, so I have the right to compete. I don't know if our relationship will last until 2025, that's the problem. And if Huong Ly, born in 1995, wants to compete, she should compete this year. If she falls into the 31-year-old category next year, she might lose both her love and her place in the competition. It's tiring to show off."

After being mentioned on social media, Huong Ly re-shared the DN's post and asked for a confrontation. She responded: "We are colleagues, we eat together, but why are you blocking each other? I just came in to comment and clarify the story. If you have the guts to post my face, you have to accept my questioning."

In the next post, this account accused Huong Ly of being given a Hermes bag by a married man when she participated in Miss Universe Vietnam 2023. Right below this post, Huong Ly confronted. The first runner-up of Miss Universe Vietnam 2023 immediately affirmed that she did not have any designer bags. "Please give me the name of the man who gave me the designer bag. Clarify the day, month, and year I received the gift. I will wait until the end of the year to pay for my makeup. Don't let me have a reputation without any benefits," Huong Ly continuously questioned on the DN's personal page.

Huong Ly thinks this person went too far in the story when mentioning her name. "From the story about the couple with Mr. Valentin Tran, the designer bag to the million-dollar line, I think you should check the source of the information. I wasted too much time because you couldn't answer," Huong Ly wrote.

In addition to responding to DN, Huong Ly also answered the audience's question: "Are you dating Mr. V?". The Miss Universe Vietnam runner-up said that she is the National Director of MUV. Mr. Valentin is the chairman and also her boss. "If there was a relationship, I wouldn't come here to question it. Mr. Valentine is my friend," Huong Ly replied.

Nguyen Thi Huong Ly, born in 1995, is the champion of Vietnam's Next Top Model 2015. She participated in Miss Universe Vietnam 2019 and entered the top 5. In 2022, Huong Ly returned to the contest and once again stopped in the top 5. A year later, Huong Ly registered for Miss Universe Vietnam 2023 and won the first runner-up prize. On May 5, the Miss Universe Vietnam homepage announced that Nguyen Thi Huong Ly was appointed as the National Director of the contest.

Valentin Tran is recently known as the president of the Miss Universe Vietnam contest. In the final night of Miss Universe Vietnam 2024, he caused controversy when he gave a speech mixed with English and Vietnamese that was extremely jarring. Sharing with the media, Mr. Valentin Tran said that this was his normal speaking style. Having grown up in France, Valentin Tran's Vietnamese is not good.

However, he said he still likes to speak Vietnamese. Having worked in Vietnam for many years in the import-export industry, his company has about 600 employees.
