Appearing on a recent program, Hua Wei Wen shared candidly about his current life as he approaches 50. The actor didn't hesitate to talk about personal losses that have profoundly affected his life journey.
Beginning the conversation, Hua Wei Wen revealed that he is still single. The actor admitted that his personal life has been turbulent, especially with the repeated separations from loved ones in his family. He shared: "I've had to say goodbye to many relatives, from my father to my older and younger brothers. People keep passing away." These losses have left him with little time to soothe his personal emotions, as he always has to be the breadwinner, taking care of his mother and the remaining members of his family.
The actor confided that whenever a crisis occurs, he is forced to be strong to shoulder the responsibility. "I don't dare use the word 'sacrifice' to describe myself, but I also have to put aside my personal feelings," he said. According to Hua Wei Wen, becoming a source of emotional support for his family requires him to persevere and always maintain a strong state of mind, even when he is deeply hurt inside.
One of the most painful memories for Hua Wei Wen is the death of his older brother right as he was beginning his acting career. He recounted that the final night of the national film acting competition was also the night he received news that his brother had been in a traffic accident. Despite his grief, he had to complete his performance before returning home for the funeral. "That was the pain I had to endure," the actor shared. That moment became an unforgettable milestone, marking the beginning of his career but also associated with a great loss.
Later, the deaths of his father and younger brother dealt him an even greater shock. Hứa Vĩ Văn stated that these consecutive losses caused him to become mentally depressed, but at the same time, they became a special source of inspiration that helped him deliver more profound performances. He said, "Perhaps what gave me more emotion to work and perform better was having to endure so much pain and loss."
When asked how to overcome sadness, the actor frankly stated that there is no way to truly erase grief. According to him, the only way is to shorten the time spent wallowing in sadness by immersing himself in work. "There's not much time for sadness, just dive into work," he shared. This perspective also reflects how Hứa Vĩ Văn chooses to face the most difficult periods in his life.
The actor added that his father's death coincided with the filming of "My Mistake." Shortly after, his younger brother passed away just before he was scheduled to participate in the "Blood Moon Party" project. These successive shocks devastated him, causing him many sleepless nights. He had already spent time caring for his sick brother, so he was already exhausted. After the funeral, he continued to suffer from prolonged insomnia, resulting in a gaunt and haggard appearance.
Amidst this difficult period, a word of encouragement from the producer helped Hua Wei Wen change his perspective. The producer told him he was fortunate to have spent 34 years with his younger brother, which was better than never having spent a single day with him. This made the actor realize the value of his memories, and he regained his spirits to continue working. Just a month later, he returned to the set of "Blood Moon Party" with a professional attitude.
At nearly 50 years old, Hua Wei Wen maintains a calm demeanor and a private lifestyle. He doesn't prioritize marriage, focusing instead on his career and family. His painful experiences have made him more mature and insightful in his perspective on life. This has contributed to his image as an emotionally rich artist, beloved by audiences through his many roles.
