Hong Chuong: "The most austere grandfather" on screen, in real life fulfilled, U90 happy with his wife who is 14 years younger

Currently, despite being at the age of U90, artist Hong Chuong is still very healthy and resourceful. He always lived optimistically towards positive things, creating a lot of joy for his own life.

The old man with the most austere face on Vietnamese screen

Artist Hong Chuong, whose real name is Nguyen Hong Chuong, was born in 1934 in Hanoi, in a family of teachers with many brothers and sisters. His childhood was quite hard when he was 3 years old when his father died, and his mother also died at 5 years old.

Therefore, from the age of 10, artist Hong Chuong had to work to support his brothers and sisters economically, without conditions to pursue or promote their artistic talents. Even so, his passion for acting still kindled in him.

The life of earning a living, rice and money made artist Hong Chuong gradually forget his passion, worked as a railway worker until he was 30 years old, when he became a foreman. His life would have gone on like that if he hadn't happened to read the newspaper and saw the announcement of the Drama Intermediate Admissions College.

The fire was ignited again, he immediately applied and matriculated. Although he entered the profession quite late compared to his colleagues, he was still not afraid of difficulties, always showed passion and enthusiasm.

Hong Chuong was also part of the first graduating class of the School of Theatre and Cinema in 1964, in the same generation as famous artists such as The Anh, Lam Toi, Tra Giang, Van Hiep. After graduation, he worked at the Vietnam National Opera until his retirement.

In addition to theater, artist Hong Chuong also imprints on the screen, through a series of large and small roles in both film and television. He starred in many famous movies such as Sharing a River, Husband and Wife A Fu, 17th parallel day and night.

In the drama segment, artist Hong Chuong is familiar with the audience through a series of austere, gentle and quality roles, especially the roles of grandfather. He was called by many viewers as the most "austere grandfather" on screen because every role was tearfully miserable, but gentle and made everyone love.

A fulfilling life with his wife who is 14 years younger at the age of 89

Although specializing in austere and unhappy roles on the screen, artist Hong Chuong has a quite fulfilling and happy personal life.

In 1965, artist Hong Chuong joined a delegation on "training" in Lac Dao commune, Van Lam district, Hung Yen province. There, he fell in love with a female village production captain named Trinh Thi My, 14 years his junior. The two developed feelings and went on to marry, giving birth to two sons. The marriage of artist Hong Chuong and his wife lasted for nearly 60 years, but until now they are still faithful, happy together, making everyone admire.

Hong Chuong and his wife live in the house left by their parents in a small alley in Root De Street, Hoang Mai District.

Although he lives in the heart of the noisy and bustling city, his home is still very peaceful with a tree-lined courtyard. What especially impresses many people is that to enter his house, it is necessary to go through an ancient mossy gate up to a hundred years old, evoking a sense of nostalgia and contemplation.

Hong Chuong artist's house is not too large, but still has a full garden, with cool and pleasant trees, creating a quiet and cool atmosphere in the middle of the city, separate from the noise and crowding outside. He and his wife have lived peacefully in this house for more than half a century.

Artist Hong Chuong is considered by neighbors to be the same outside, very gentle, living peacefully, intimately with everyone. He received a lot of love from the people in the neighborhood, every time he left the house, someone would shake his face and wave to him.

The artist once shared that children in the neighborhood often call him "fairy, buddha", adults call him "dad" because he is always friendly with everyone.

Many times when going to breakfast, the shopkeeper not only did not take the money but also welcomed him very eagerly. It was this that filled his old age life with joy.

Regarding his partner who is 14 years younger, artist Hong Chuong is always filled with feelings of happiness mixed with pride every time he mentions it. Although Mrs. My is old, has severe ears and suffers from cardiovascular disease, she is always the one who takes care of his daily meals, taking care of him whenever he goes away from home with the film crew.

Artist Hong Chuong also confessed that he and his wife have many opposite personalities but live together extremely happily. He was easygoing, slouchy, sympathetic, ignoring others. Meanwhile, his wife is well-groomed and careful, so she is good at cultivating and building family happiness.

Asking the artist that while his close friends such as People's People's Committee Tra Giang, People's People's Committee The Anh or People's People's Committee Doan Dung have been awarded titles and he still has nothing that can be considered "the artist's property", he just laughed and replied: "My life has only regrets. It is in the family that the children are not succeeded. Having a trophy without being loved by the audience is even sadder."

For him, movies are his passion, so he vows to devote himself to it without caring about anything, not even money. Many colleagues said he was foolish, but with his professional perspective, artist Hong Chuong was only eager to act and live his life to the fullest in the assigned character.
