Hoang Thuy Anh: The runner-up suffered from depression because of discrimination because of her appearance and her determination to overcome hemiplegia

Participating in a group of beauties who have won quite a few beauty certificates, few people know that Thuy Anh was once a victim of body shaming to the point of mental breakdown.

Hoang Thuy Anh was born in 1999, 1.75 m tall, from Hanoi. She is a student of the Department of Educational Psychology at Hanoi University of Education. Before winning the 1st runner-up position at Miss Vietnam Sea and Islands 2022, she inspired the story of her efforts to lose 20 kg, overcome polio and body shaming leading to depression.

Thuy Anh has an impressive height of 1.75m and measurements of 85-64-95. Previously, she tried her hand at Miss Vietnam 2020 but did not achieve high results.

Previously, because of losing weight incorrectly, two years ago, Thuy Anh was paralyzed on half of her body and could not walk normally. With every inconvenient activity, the beauty feels like she is a burden to her mother, so she is stressed and falls into depression. There was a time when she didn't want to continue living.

"I encountered this incident because of my complacency about my health and my eagerness to lose weight quickly. I destroyed my physical strength by losing weight in the wrong way such as fasting, abusing weight loss pills, and over-exercising. "All of these things made my body exhausted and gradually paralyzed on one side of my body," the beauty recounted.

Encouraged by friends and family, she reassured herself and focused on treatment. Hoang Thuy Anh practices physical therapy every day and goes to the acupuncture clinic weekly. She kept an optimistic spirit, so her health changed positively and gradually recovered after three months of treatment.

Sharing with the media, Thuy Anh said she cares about mental health, especially children. "In Vietnam, people have begun to understand mental illnesses, but they are still not widespread and do not understand the importance of mental health. Having had psychological problems since childhood due to discrimination about appearance, Study pressure; I was lucky to overcome it, but it still somewhat affected my current psychology. Therefore, I want to study Educational Psychology to help children," she confided.

To overcome, the female student fights negative thoughts with the love of her family. "When I don't want to continue living, I look at my family photos and think that if I do that, the people who stay behind will suffer even more. Because I'm a student of Psychology, I know how to stabilize my state. psychology. I also research the reasons for the disease to cure myself because only I understand myself best," Thuy Anh confided.

Through the journey of "resurrection", Thuy Anh hopes that young people who want to lose weight need to know that this is a long-term process. Each person needs to eat properly and with adequate nutrition, exercise in moderation and prioritize comfort first; Listen to your body and don't follow unscientific weight loss trends. She wants to convey the message: it's okay to have a fat, skinny body or any shape; as long as you are confident, happy and love yourself.

Thuy Anh affirmed that she came to Miss Universe Vietnam 2022 with the mindset of a warrior, daring to face all challenges. At the same time, the beauty born in 1999 also wants to inspire young people to overcome their limits to do extraordinary things.

Hoang Thuy Anh confided: "I want to convey the message to young people that life will always have difficulties, challenges and life's events are opportunities for us to be stronger. I hope you Always believe in yourself, dare to think, dare to do and dare to pursue your dreams."
