Before Hanni (NewJeans) or Hanbin ( TEMPEST), there were many other idols of Vietnamese origin who debuted and operated in the harsh K-pop market.
Recently, NewJeans - the new girl group of HYBE has released the MV Attention, paving the way for the official debut in August. Under the name of "sister girl group" BTS, with each member's eye-catching appearance, NewJeans has collected attracted a lot of attention from the public.
Especially, for Kpop fans in Vietnam, all attention is focused on member Hanni because she is of Vietnamese origin. This information makes Vietnamese fans extremely excited and proud when a Vietnamese idol debuts under a big company like HYPE and is also a junior of BTS.
But Hanni is not the first Kpop idol with Vietnamese nationality. Before Hanni, there were many young Vietnamese who debuted in the Korean music industry.
Hanni (NewJeans)
Hanni, whose real name is Pham Ngoc Han, was born in 2004. The female idol has a father from Hanoi and a mother from Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh City and lived in Australia since childhood. Immediately after NewJeans was released, Hanni's Vietnamese childhood photos spread strongly on social networks and quickly attracted attention, especially the image of her posing with the "legendary" Dream car.
Hanni's childhood photos have proven that she is beautiful from a young age and will become a Kpop beauty in the future. The female idol's current appearance and aura through MVs and promotional photos are commented to exude luxury like senior Jennie (BLACKPINK).
Hanni will officially debut with NewJeans on August 1. Before that, the group will release 4 opening MVs, respectively, including "Attention", "Hype Boy", "Cookie", and "Hurt".
Hanbin (TEMPEST)
Habin (TEMPEST) real name is Ngo Ngoc Hung, born in 1998 in Yen Bai. Before debut, Hanbin was known as a member of a famous dance group in Hanoi.
The male idol first appeared on Kpop as a contestant on the survival show I-LAND. Although he could not make it into the official lineup of ENHYPEN, fans still hope to see him debut.
After leaving BELIFT LAB, Hanbin signed with Yuehua Entertainment and became a member of TEMPEST. The group officially debuted on March 2, 2022 with the MV Bads News, the song created quite good effects, helping TEMPEST be considered as a potential Kpop boy group in the future.
Although he is a newly debuted rookie, in terms of experience, Hanbin is not lacking. The guy, who has been active in the CAC dance cover dance group for a while in Vietnam, also went through the I-land survival contest, so his skills are "not average".
UK (BEAUTYBOX)
Anh (BEAUTYBOX) real name is Tran Nguyen Tram Anh, born in 1999 in Ho Chi Minh City. She once participated in the multinational group project to become a member of the girl group Z-Girls. Although he did not make it to the final lineup of Z-Girls, he was still lucky to be introduced as the 3rd member of the girl group BEAUTYBOX.
BEAUTYBOX is a girl group under BY-U Entertainment, debuting in September 2021 with the single "RAT A TAT". The group recently released the mini-album B-STEP with the title track BOGGLEBOOGLE.
Queen (Z-Girls)
Queen (Z-Girls) real name is Luc Thi Thuy Quyen (1997), she takes the position of main rapper in the group.
Z-Girls is a multinational girl group, managed by Z-POP DREAM company, debuted in February 2019 with the MV What You Waiting For. Although debuting in the Kpop market, the group has no Korean members. Nationalities of 7 team members include India, Japan, Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam.
Currently, Z-Girls is on hiatus because leader Carlyn is unexpectedly pregnant and 2 members with Taiwanese and Japanese nationality have decided to leave the group.
Roy (Z-Boys)
Z-Boys is also a project similar to Z-Girls, under Z-POP DREAM company. The group consists of 7 members from 7 different countries, including Roy, who has Vietnamese nationality. The male idol's real name is Nguyen Hai Hoai Bao (1996), taking the lead vocal position in the group.
Z-Boys debuted with the song "No Limit", but the group is currently on hiatus. Roy (Z-Boys) and Queen (Z-Girls) collaborated to release a Vietnamese song called Sister Oi I Love Thoi.
Jade (A-Daily)
A-Daily is a girl group under the management of DK Entertainment, which debuted in March 2014. The original team lineup consisted of 10 members, including the girl Jade (real name Nguyen Hoang Bao Ngoc) who is of Vietnamese origin. However, only 1 year after debut, Jade left A-Daily and the group disbanded not long after.
It can be said that Kpop idols from the S-shaped land make Vietnamese fans feel excited. Accordingly, many people hope that more and more Vietnamese will become Kpop idols.
