Ha Anhui: The champion has a "huge" status, is "obsessed" when writing songs to pay tribute to his lost friend

Ha An Huy is a young singer-songwriter, through his compositions, many people feel surprised by the deep contemplation of life and also the way he conveys through his lyrics.

Ha An Huy was born in 2002, he was born in Hanoi City in a traditional family of rowing with 3 generations of all following art. Ha Anhui said his grandmother and mother sang rowing, so he listened to rowing since childhood and loved it very much. It is known that Anhui is currently a student of the Department of Applied Music at Thang Long University.

In real life, Anhui is a funny and outgoing young man, completely different from the deep sorrows he expresses in his compositions. From the age of 3, the guy began to be acquainted with traditional Vietnamese musical instruments. His grandmother also taught him to play paddle drums, which is also his favorite of the ethnic instruments.

He used to take piano lessons but could write music on the piano so he stopped. Later, he was given a guitar by a friend, so he decided to learn guitar and practice composing. After half a year, Anhui wrote his first song. The more he composed, the better the guy felt and decided to pursue this work. Currently, singing is still his strength but he always maintains making music.

As a young artist, Ha Anhui also has artist role models to follow. However, he feels that the most stable role models he wants to pursue are senior Phan Manh Quynh and senior Bui Lan Huong. He likes Phan Manh Quynh because of his cinematic musical thinking - meaning that he can put images into the lyrics that listeners can immediately imagine.

That's something very few Vietnamese musicians can do. An Huy acknowledged that Bui Lan Huong's music has dark colors but brings a sense of closeness to listeners. He felt that the senior was a very deep person.

For Ha Anhui, the great difficulty for him in music is to moderate his emotions when writing music. Every time he writes music, if emotions run so high that it's hard for him to come up with concise lyrics. That's why every time he composes a new song, he will choose to relax his body, distill the right lyrics to put into his song. Anhui's inspiration for composing comes from love stories and couple love.

Since childhood, Anhui has followed his mother on tours and recordings, so he has been imbued with rowing rhythms. He said that when he chose to pursue youth music instead of sticking to traditional music, his family did not stop him, allowing Anhui to decide his own direction. However, Anhui affirmed that the love for the art of rowing is always in his heart, fostering his musical dream.

Ha An Huy has been known to the public since the Best Song program. Returning to Vietnam Idol 2023, Ha An Huy attracted attention thanks to his bright appearance and good voice. Videos of Anhui's performance reposted on social media attracted millions of views with positive comments.

Returning to a new musical playground, Anhui wants to give himself the opportunity to challenge, prove more ability. He said the pressure was because this year's competition had many strong competitors, plus had to show its own colors to match the criteria and conquer the audience.

Huy said: "At first, my family had obstacles, but just said that, without any purpose. Parents said that working in this profession is very difficult, will face economic difficulties, unless they can enter a company or group, they will have a more stable income. But for me, that's not a problem, I've been defining a profession for a long time. That's why I answered my parents, "If you can do it, you can do it too." And my grandparents support me 100%.

Every time I finish a piece, I always give it to my mother. I will give the article to professional and straightforward people for evaluation. My mother can feel all kinds of music from Vinahouse, EDM,... Every time I listen to my music, my mom will say, "Not yet. Have to watch again, not enough climax.'"

The young singer said that at present, singing is still his strength, the work of composing music has only been started for 2 years, so he wants to let time prove. Luckily, there were a few highlight songs that were praised by teachers.

When asked about the highlight songs, Huy shared: "There are two songs that I like very much, the first is an improvised song titled "My Mind", about a guy who thinks about a girl that she doesn't know – called unrequited love. Up to now, this is the song with the most "real" lyrics. At that time, I just poured out my emotions and wrote, when I read it again, it made sense. I really want to find that feeling again, because the more I write, the more difficult it gets. I hope there is someone to help me find this feeling again.

The second song is that I wrote for a brother who decided to go to the afterlife not long ago because of depression. But it wasn't until the last 2 months that I found out, now it's too late. I wanted to include images of where she wanted to go in this song as comfort. It's really this song that gives me goosebumps."

Currently, Anhui has moved to Ho Chi Minh City to live and build a career. He said, "Vietnam Idol is an opportunity that I have to seize, which will greatly determine the success of the singing path I am choosing."

Ha Anhui impressed not only from his singing and vocal skills, but he was also a very recognized young musician. The songs Ha An Huy performed all left a great impression on the audience listening to music, especially the songs composed by Ha An Huy himself.
